we were lodged here as part of our 15 day grand tour of Cuba so that there might well be better twin bedded rooms if one books directly. The meals were ok, the beds, as everywhere on our tour -good but the room was very cramped especially with our two rather large bags. Being in the middle of the town we found it ideal for exploring.

We stayed there for two nights, and it was ok. The room was small, but the beds were good and the bathroom renovated. Helpful staff.

On the positive side it is an interesting historic building - collapsing at the back. There is a limited choice of hotels in Camaguey. Bedrooms which are extremely cramped are off corridors with clanking doors very reminicent of Alcatraz- with little or no ventilation, and quite noisy- clamking doors and train noise at 04.00 am. Evening meal was truly awful, with only two restaurant staff, so service was very slow. Breakfast was just about acceptable.

Very few hotel choices in the city of Camaguey, but hotel Colon is a good place to stay.This is an old spanish colonial style building with a courtyard in the middle and rooms above on four sides. The bar is one of the oldest in Cuba and Jose the bartender takes pride in making a slow traditional mojito. The rooms are clean; airconditioned and with CNN and Espn on tv.Not much of a restaurant;internet access half a block away. Staff are friendly and helpful.
