The room was clean although spartan, the water hot, air conditioning worked, lots of tv stations, soap available but no shampoo, etc. The maid was a little forward in announcing her day off--make sure you leave a tip in other words. Glad I was in a single room as one bed was terrible, probably there since the revolution. The usual petty theft you find in Cuba in making change, in the bar and restaurant, which is disheartening. Complimentary breakfast was ok, eggs made to order, an assortment of fruit and veggies, enough to fill you until lunch. This hotel was adequate if you're out all day and returning only to sleep, freshen up, etc., would not recommend it for vacationers who want to relax at the pool, etc.

hotel is in need of a close down and complete refurbishment. Locals queue up to use the pool so not much room for residents unless you get there before 9am!!! You must go to Casa Espanola in nearby Miramar (taxi 5/6 CUC's). Absolutely gorgeous paella.

I stayed at the Hotel Vedado last week as part of a tour package from Cuba Adventures. This place is a dump! I was not impressed with any aspect of this 'hotel'. Where to begin! Here is a brief summary of my impressions of our stay. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. The breakfast menu was not bad, omelettes made to order, an assortment of bread, fresh fruit...but I still got sick and 6 days after I've returned home, I am still feeling awful. The bathroom lighting was horrible and the shower doors were rusty and barely closed. Our towels had stains on them (lovely...).

The only positive aspects of our stay at this place was that they had a vast array of cable channels available (yes, I'm serious), and the close proximity to the Hotel Nacional and the Malecon.

This is my second review for this hotel . Stayed here in december of 2009 and now in Dec 2010. I paid about US$35(Vacacionnar) per night and will not pay more than that. I was given room 708 this time which also has a living room area and access to the patio.
They need to get new mattresses.
No complaints yet again, clean no bugs, breakfast was my usual, egg white omlettes and my own organic tea bags and the fruit from the breakfast room.
Great location, clean and no problems with staff.
