I now consider Aleida family. I've stayed with her on every adventure to Cuba, and would not even consider staying elsewhere. Her flat is clean and safe. She has two guest rooms, one with two twin beds, with the other having one full size. Each room has its own TV, refrigerator and wall safe. The fridge is full of bottled water, soda and beer. Each is a $1.50? The bathroom is shared, but is not a big deal since there are usually few people there at one time. Towels are provided. I suggest bringing all of your own toiletries. The guest room with one full size bed is in the back of the flat is considered "Charles's" room when I stay there. It has a nice porch for relaxing and watching the school children play below. The rooms are airy and clean. Aleida is a great cook and you can have breakfast and dinner for an extra charge ($4-$7?). The location is actually Vedado, a suburb of Havana, which is about a $5 taxi ride to the Capitolio, or $1 if you're brave enough to flag down a "Cuban taxi," which is an old American tank (I recommend this).

Now I want to "qualify" this review. If you're looking for an American-style 5 star hotel, don't stay here...actually, don't go to Cuba. But if you understand that most neighborhoods and homes will not be pristine and new, and you have a sense of adventure, then Aleida's, and similar Casas, are a great option, and will become a part of you...a nice part!

And in closing, my personal guarantee is that you'll learn more about Havana and Cuba from Aleida then you could ever have imagined! Safe travels...

I stayed three more than one week and got really good time. Aleida is a lovely woman and she helped me so much even she find me a salsa teacher and I learnt salsa in her house. She prepares a rich breakfast and putting the great cuban music. I will always remember that great moments in cuba.

I havent stayed at Aleida's casa. I called them before i flew to havana from madrid and reserved her room then I went there to stay but when i arrived to Aleida's casa, she took me another casa and said me her room was fully booked and offered me to stay her friend's unlicenced casa.So i had to stay there coz i dont have time to look for another casa out there. And the room of Aleida's friend was not good but they charged me a regular licenced touristic room price. So it was not a good experience for me and it was not a honest behaviour.

We have stayed 3 times in Habana, and always Aleyda helped our family to make very good holidays in Cuba!
