My husband and I stayed there during our honeymoon in 2002 (I know, that was ages ago). This was our first time in Havana and looking back, I am glad we stayed there. This place is not quite a hotel, it is rather a restaurant/bar with 5 or 6 rooms situated on the top floor. The rooms are named after famous ships and the doors to all open into a balcony overlooking the restaurant. The rooms are big, with very high ceilings (makes them cooler) and large bathrooms. The hotel is literally in the centre and everything is at walking distance, which makes things easy and interesting.
The restaurant is quite nice, although we only had dinner once there and no other meals during our stay. I tried the lobster with papaya which was really nice and quite exotic.
The staff were quite helpful and we thought that the overall service was good (cleaning, laundry service etc).
The only upsetting thing was the flamenco show going on at the restaurant on Saturday night which was noisy and I was not prepared for it, thinking that I would go to bed early after a busy day. However, this was not something to blame the hotel as it is well known for having a live show, it was basically something that my husband and I overlooked when we booked the hotel. So after realising that we wouldn't be able to sleep early, we went downstairs and enjoyed the show over a few drinks.
In summary, this is a very nice and relatively cheap hotel/restaurant/bar with nice big rooms and helpful staff. However, I would not go there again simply because I am a person who doesn't like any noise at all at the hotel where I am staying, although I would enjoy dinner and the flamenco show there, but only as a visitor!
