I chose to visit Havana at the last minute and found most Hotels which had been recommended to be fully booked (this is the end of January). However I was recommended to stay at the Hotel Park View which turned-out to fit all my needs.

Firstly the Hotel is ideally located in Old Havana; a five minute walk takes you to the start of Obispo street where the Floradita Bar is located (very touristy and best avoided). The Hotel is what I would call a two star, but saying that offers very good value for money.

My room was functional and not in the slightest bit grand (and it doesn't try to be), however everything functioned perfectly the whole time I was there - the air-conditioning, the water supply (a surprisingly great shower) and it was spotlessly clean. The room attendant was delightful - in fact all the staff were really friendly and most spoke enough English to ensure that everything I asked for was fulfilled (as I sadly don't speak Spanish).

The breakfast buffet included in the rate was ample and there was enough there to satisfy me - nothing special and I certainly did not eat there for any other meals because there is so much to choose from in Old Havana in the way of restaurants and paradors.

We stayed at the Park View as part of an organised tour of Cuba. Our first room had the very loud sound of constant running water so we moved into another - there the bathroom floor was always very wet due to a leaking pipe. Our room 2 weeks later had a non adjustable air-conditioning. We found the breakfast acceptable on most days, an evening meal edible (the meat required strong teeth and jaws). The staff were very mixed, the maids friendly, the desk staff on the whole not very friendly and the restaurant staff rather disinterested - a young girl working in the breakfast room couls have spent much more time SMSing had we not been there!

The staff were not particularly nice. Rooms were ok and clean. There's a safe in the room you just have to ask for the key. But the ceiling in the bathroom leaked....hot water was sketchy. And the food wasn't good. The location is very central but I wouldn't particularly recommend staying here.

Very basic, small hotel room. Could be a lot cleaner and need some repair in bathroom. Very basic breakfast. Airo did’nt work. There are probably better places for the same price.
