“Perfect location and comfortable rooms”

I traveled solo on a tour with 3 other US tourists. We spent 3 nights at the Sevilla (after 2 nights at the Nacional earlier on our trip). The Sevilla is in an ideal location on the Prado - easily walk-able to many historic sites and restaurants in Havana. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Remember this is Cuba, so nothing will be perfect. I had hot water every morning, but in the afternoons I had to wait quite a while for hot water in my room. The pool area is very nice. Our tour included a buffet breakfast ....... but after many days of buffets, I preferred to take the elevator to the 9th floor restaurant and pay an extra $10 CUC for a peaceful breakfast without the crowds - and with incredible morning views of the city below. The lobby bar is also an excellent place to unwind with a mojito and often live music - after a hot day of sightseeing.

For me, the Hotel Nacional is a one-time experience - but a bit removed from most of the historic sites. But if or when I return to Havana, I will definitely stay at the Sevilla again.

Tis hotel vas generally good. The decor is very nice and the location is great.

However, I was very disappointed in the quality of the included breakfasts and that there was no access to Internet or e-mail at the hotel.

“Great location for touring Havana”

This hotel was exactly as described - full of old charm and in a fabulous location (right by the museum of the revolution). It was spotlessly clean and the only drawback was the appalling breakfast (the worst we tasted throughout our whole stay in Cuba - poor chopice and badly cooked) served by staff who clearly couldn't care less about their customers - there was no hot water for tea on the days we stayed as the machine had broken down and they weren't prepared to provided jugs of hot water even though coffee was served in jugs! Other staff ranged from being typically Cuban - very friendly and cheerful - to downright rude! I'd recommend this hotel only for the location but certainly not for the food or service.

“Very nice hotel in a good location”

The hotel is very good located, in the center of Havana. It is close to El FLoridita, just two streets away, so you can go for a late night drink.
The hotel has a very nice garden looking to the street with a swimming pool, that is really big plus, so you can in the afternoon go and swim.
The rooms are not big, but very comfortable, bathroom OK. In the roof-restaurant you can go for a typicall Cuban danceing and singing evening with very good food!

Room Tip: If you need to check in for your flight, reserv time for this, internet connection is a longer story...

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Stayed for 1 night only on way back from Guardalavaca, the hotel itself was grand, fantastic photos and steeped in history throughout the ground floor. Our room was a bit dated looking, but clean and had the best view we had ever had out of the 3 hotels we stayed in Cuba, straight out over the ocean and the old fortress, quite spectacular. We had our daughter with us and it was 2 rooms together separated by a hallway and wardrobes, lots of space. We had stayed now in Cuba nearly 2 weeks and just wanted a quick no frills tea so asked the doorman where the nearest decent Italian was, he told us where to go, and he came across very happy to help, In Cuba you tip everyone but we did not tip him, he really did not seem to expect it, anyway we had a lovely meal and when we got back to the hotel we tried to give him a tip saying thank you for his suggestion, he still refused!! Amazing in Cuba, eventually we got him to take it. Nice pool as its so hot wandering around but extremely noisy as its on the street level, think we were spoiled at the start of our holiday in the Parque Central, its rooftop pool was amazing. Would stay here again, great location and not as many tour guides etc hitting on you as you leave the hotel as there were in the PC.

Room Tip: Highest level for view, we were on 8th floor
