Charming small hotel very close to the Cathedral in Havana, and a perfect position to explore the old city. Facilities are by no means luxurious, but adequate and clean. The junior suite is definitely worth booking if you can get one (there are only two). Staff are helpful, especially on the tourist desk. Breakfast is basic, but not unusually so by Cuban standards.

We stayed here our first two nights in Cuba. It was a good introduction. AC either didn't work or was inadequate but with just a sheet over us we slept fairly well. Beds were rather thin and firm as were most during our Cuba stay. The hotel has a couple of inner courtyards that offered areas to sit, talk and enjoy the atmosphere of this old renovated hotel. The hotel was a short walk from the Malecon and also from the major sights of the old city. Overall, it was a good place to stay in Old Havana.

A bit basic by western standards but great location, charm and price make this a good choice. Located within easy walking distance to loads of restuarants, cafes and all the sights of the old city. Comfortable, clean and plenty of hot water. There is a little shop next door where you can buy bottled water and a bank with ATM's a short walk away. Not everything works...we had a junior suite overlooking the street and the kitchenette didn't work (no plumbing or hotplate) but that was ok as didn't need or want it anyway. The suite was large and worth the extra money. Staff are ok but not great.... considering what they get paid per month, I guess this is understandable. I would certainly stay here again.

This is a totally renovated property on the edge of the old quarter of Havana. This makes it ideally situated for exploring this area on your own without the use of guides etc. It can be done this way quite easily in one day by foot. When we arrived (01/10/11) I asked about a snack. The receptionist beckoned the Bellboy who took us around into Cathedral Sq and into a local restaurant that was quite expensive even by Havana standards. We left immediately. No commission there for the Bellboy and possibly receptionist too.

Our last day (05/10/11) necessitated us using the secure room for baggage storage as we weren't being collected until 8-30pm. This Bellboy indicated only he had a key. (I had one insecure bag that had a new shirt and tee shirt and some other stuff in) On getting home I discovered these new garments gone! I know they were in it when place there. and weren't lost en route home. This Bellboy has a small mustache and tries to sell you cigars as well. These would be taken from you as contraband at the airport.

My whole perception of this well restored building and it's ability to proved excellent accommodation in a good location is completely undermined by the actions of this Bellboy and I would therefore have no hesitation in telling travellers do not stay here, there are other decent hotels you can use
