We payed a fortune to stay here! (Prices like a very good hotel in Paris) Unfortunately we spent that money to be in a 'suite' for 3 nights. Well it was very spacious, but that was about it. Everything was falling apart or didn't work (windows, shower, chair etc). Every night from 2 am onwards until 6 am the water truck was parked right underneath our room. The pump was so loud, that we had to shout to understand each other and the petrol fumes were so strong that we got headaches every night of our stay. Of sleep was not to think!
The hotel is well situated. Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Breakfast was pretty poor. I know, that it is cuba, but we had much better breakfast at much cheaper places! staff didn't really care about us or our wishes. on top we were advised every day by our cleaning staff that they are caring for us and would appreciate some money.
don't missunderstand me. we travel a lot and we understand that cuba is cuba, but that was a miserable experience.

Perfect location. Typical Cuba. It's a state owned hotel so some of the staff try to line their own pockets. The maids and breakfast staff were fantastic. The porter and front of house were very polite.
Breakfast was like any hotel. All fresh fruit. It's an historical building so no modern comforts. The best location in the city. Bar restaurant a few door up is new and the food is unreal. Staff are amazing and friendly.
If you want luxury this is not the place for you.
If you want to experience luxury from 100 years ago this is the place for you.
Remember wages are approx $30 a month so all foreigners are rich to these people.
This is a restored villa not a modern hotel.
Also if you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you.
The peacock starts roaring from 5am. It's funny for a while but not for a long stay.
I would stay here again.

I went to Havana this last march with my girlfriend and stayed 4 nights at this well located hotel. It is in the heart of Havana Vieja, the nighborhood you will want to stay.
But for the price asked, we surely expected more.
Rooms are nice and inspire some other times, but cleanliness is worrying. At the second day, we felt some bites in our bodies, which we tought was from mosquitos or so. But we ended up discovering it was comming from bed buggs.

Service is another main problem. People are often lazy or like expecting for tips even before any need you have.
Breakfast is weak, just simple.
