“Great Value, good service, new mattresses!”

This was my fifth time in Havana. I spend a lot of time counselling people on where and how to stay in Havana. The Copa was clean, great room, I had the Junior Suite which means I had a balcony. Breakfast was better than I expected. The ocean pool was very cool. You cannot go to a Havana hotel and expect good food. I only ate breakfast here, but within walking distance is Doctors cafe which is one of the best places in town. One of my friends did not like his regular room, because it had no balcony, the staff quickly found him a new room. If you are traveling to Havana, and want to be in Miramar for quiet/good food/shopping, then I highly recommend this hotel.

“Bad place to stay at...”

ok i will start by day one and then continue as the days passed by to keep some sort of organization.
day 1: i arrived to the hotel and tried to check out the 2 rooms that i had reserved. the clerk asked me who was staying in the 2nd room. this room was for my mother which we had to go pick up at her place. the clerk said that she could not give me the room unless she was present. i asked why? in my head if i paid for all the rooms why could not i get them. she said that the room had to be in the name of the person that was going to be staying in the room. i replied why could not the room be on my GFs name and i would add my mother later. All i wanted was the 2 rooms so i would have to deal with it again when i came back to the hotel which would be very late at night. she said she needed my mothers information to book the room under her name. i offered to call my mother and get the ID info but the clerk said no, that my mother had to be present. We only got one room and the clerk promissed us that she would separate one of the vacant rooms for my mother right next to ours. when we came back at 12am there was no room clean close to us and my mother had to go to a room all the way across the room for us. you have to consider that in cuba this is a major pain because there are no cell phones and to coordinate with people is a hasle. the excuse for the room next to mine not to be ready to be occupied was that the room was not "clean". at 12am since the afternoon when people check out and the room was not clean? later on i found out that the maids come in at 9am-5pm and one chief maid stays.
Day 2
i went to the service desk to get my mother switched from her room and the clerk said the same thing... "there are not clean rooms close to yours" he said that by the time i got back (which would be very late) the room should be clean and i should be able to get it.
when i came back at 12 am there were no rooms clean. the clerk said to come back the next morning. she took a note and wrote it on the hotel log for the other shifts to see it. the note had the details of to what room to switch my mother. none of the other clerks did this before. she said she would leave at 7am.
Day 3
i went to the service desk at 6.45am to deal with the same clerk that helped me last nigh. she was gone and a guy was on her place. he was able to get me the room after he read the note previously written by the night clerk. at last my mother was in a room right next to us. all of this because the room was not clean. took 2 days to clean a room that was vacant?
when i came back that night i wanted my brother to take a shower in my room so we could go out to dinner and later i would drop him at his place. turns out cubans were not allowed to be in the hotel pool past 7pm. i can understand the cuban policy that non hotel guests are not supposed to go to the rooms. the problem of this policy is that it only applies to cubans. i had an argument over this with one of the security guards SEPSA and asked for his supervisor. after explaining the situation to the supervisor he allowed my brother to go to the room and take a shower. further more if he wanted to stay in one of our rooms he would have to pay 40.00 CUC. totally arbitrary policies. i went to the Hotel Nacional with one of my friends (american) that was staying there for a couple nights. while visiting him my mother(cuban), my brother(cuban), my girlfriend(american), another american friend and me went to his room and not a single person said anything to us. we sat on the patio of the hotel which by the way is beautifull and no problems.
my brother did not want to go back to the hotel because of the way they treated him. i ommited the details but the argument was in "cuban" and we cubans are not known for having quiet arguments. therefore the whole lobby of the hotel had to find out what was going on.
Day 4
the shower in my room broke and there was no water pressure at 7am. i had to take a shower sitting in the bathroom to try to increase the water pressure.
about the hotel: there was construction going on but it did not interfere with the normal activities of the hotel. the rooms were clean and the beds were ok. the buffet was very nice and modest but nice overall. the cafe con leche machine kept breaking down every morning and the cafe con leche was only good the first morning.
the staff was very nice and attent. i must note this because it was the only thing that caught my attention. they would apologize for any inconveniences and try to help you but honestly there is just so much they could do. they would go out of their way to help you and this is worth noting it.
the rooms were super noisy and there was no noise dampening or insulation. i could hear the TV and people talking in the room next to me. there were kids being kids and i could hear everything they were doing. they woke us up while taking and afternoon nap because my GF got stomach sick. i got stomach sick too and it lasted for 7 days.

“Good Base on the Miramar, Very helpful staff”

Stayed in the Copacabana after a week touring Cuba, the hotel has just been refurbished (I think they are still working on part of the hotel but there was no noise while we were there). Hotel staff are very friendly and attentive. The buffet dinner is fine but the Italian restaurant made me a little ill. There is a small supermarket across the road where you can get cheap water and if you walk through to the otherside there is a shop in a building on the corner that will sell a phone card. we paid 10 CUC to get into Old Havana to go drinking starting at Floridita.
The locals tend to use the hotel facilities at weekend (for a small charge) and as another reviewer has commented there are some working girls here at times (although they are discreet, I noticed that some older guys hired a girlfriend for a week and they stayed at the hotel with these guys, I chatted to another girl at a weekend sat at the bar and asked what she did for a living and she quietly said that she did massage and offered her services, there was nothing obvious or offensive going on.

Good hotel with the essential to stay in Havana. Re opened some weeks ago. Nice and friendly staff. One of the best spot to take a salt bath in the nature pool. Nice view. Rooms have new furniture. The price with the quality make this Hotel a good choice for family and travelers who want to be in town and stay in a quiet place. I recommend this Hotel.

“the worst hotel visited”

I stayed last weekend at this hotel first of all it is not a 4 start hotel.there were only ten gues in the hotel.the hallways dirty ,no aircondition art all,the food in breakfast poor and even the cook was coughing on food. There is no music in swimmingpool or anything to do if you stayat the hotel .They are reparing the hotel so there is not elevator and my room was on 3rd floor. The toilet paper dispenser in almost to your rib so it is uncorfortable .I claimed on theair and they didn't help just excused.I thought it could be a better stay here.Even they called me by mistake at 4 am to advise me of my taxi was there I had a rented car so they woke me up for no reason.Only the turist bureu was a nice dedicated guy who explained us the options to go for a cabaret outside thereI do not recomend this to nobody.
