Havana can be a bit daunting if you arrive at night. The narrow dark streets with people appearing to lurk in doorways was quite confronting as the Taxi pulled up outside our accommodation. The front door is on the dark street. You ring the bell, announce your arrival into the intercom, the door buzzes open and you commence the long steep marble staircase. This initial reservation is quickly dispelled as the manager races down the stairs to assist. The Casa Particularis are Cuban B&B's and is the Socialist/Revolutionary government's way of allowing a bit of private enterprise to enter the Tourism market. Casa Habana is one of the best, a bit larger than most, private facilities, comfortable bed, safe, fridge in room, a rooftop bar serving the best Mahitos in Cuba for $2! The dining room serves breakfast and will serve dinner if you book ahead. It is very close to the main restaurant strip and the museums etc. Highly recommended. Friendly and helpful service.
