Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our 2 week trip to Cuba. It was a nice introduction to the country, as the location was perfect to get a lay of the land from the balcony, and taxis could always find the place.
Our room was more than adequate in size , very large bathroom as well, tons of closet space. There was an AC that quickly cooled the room down, then the fan was adequate for the night. The room was quiet until morning traffic below- but not a bother.
The only complaint about the room was the slightly irregular hot water for the shower- though compared to other places in Cuba, it was still very nice.
Evora was not there during our stay- and I do think that for this reason we missed out on the B&B feel of the place. Her husband was very nice, though only present on arrival and exit. One of the morning ladies was not my favorite person- she spoke so quietly and seemed as though as she would be helpful, but was not unless I insisted (such as making a phone call to my next casa).
If you do not need a lot of help with information, and want a very comfortable place, with a difficult to beat view, this is the top choice!
When there are others from the casa around, there is good information sharing, there are books to use from others, etc.
I did appreciate the water cooler with filtered water, as throughout the rest of my trip the casas had water for purchase only.
As far as food- the $5 breakfast is worth it for the abundance of fruit. Downstairs there is a cafe with just as cheap egg meals, great coffee. Some mornings there is no one in the casa to do breakfast.
Everyone around recommends the Restaurant Castropol around the corner from Evora, on the Malecon. We found this place to be pretentious, poor service, and the food without flavor. There are so many other places to find good local food, so I would skip this place.
