An excellent and immaculate spacious suite comprising a double bedroom; private shower room; sitting room and an outside shaded area for sitting. Guests have their own private entrance. All this is in '[-]' . Hortensia's web site is in German and Spanish; we have encouraged her to include an English translation - although it is quite easy to understand and the pictures are helpful.
Hortensia was most friendly, considerate and welcoming; she was really eager to please. We paid 30CUCs per night for the accommodation; breakfast was 2CUC; dinner 6CUCs epr person - it was delicious and there was plenty of it!
Casa Hortensia is about 100metres from a sandy beach that seems to be a favourite with Cuban families. Small bars and restaurants are nearby. We had the advantage of appearing to be the only non Cubans around at the time. Because this is not a foreign tourist area it would be a good idea to brush up a little on your Spanish language - although we got by - and we have next to none!
The whole area proved to be safe for walking around - day or night. the town of Guanabo is about 15 minutes walk away from the casa; there is a local bus which will take you there if you don't want to walk.
