“Can't recommend highly enough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have never written a review before but this place was so good that I felt obliged to sing its praises. The place itself is beautiful - full of antiques etc. The location is perfect for seeing Old Havana, and the staff are amazing. The service was faultless, including Luis getting out of bed in the middle of the night to make us mohitos (sorry Luis!). Beautiful breakfast, great lobster dinner. If you want to stay in the real Cuba rather than a swish (and expensive) western hotel, you couldn't do better than Casa Luis Miguel. 100% recommended.

“A little gem of a Casa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We spent 3 nights at Casa 1932 with Luis at the end of November after a 7 day tour and 4 nights all inclusive at Breezes Jibacoa. This was our chance to experience the real Havana and we were not disappointed. The location is excellent being between the Vieja and the Vedado and within easy walking distance of both .The Malecon is only a stones throw away and although the area looks a little daunting at first we spent many hours wandering around the streets of Centro Havana both day and night without any trouble whatsoever. Luis was a great host, recommending a lovely Paladare within walking distance and also providing us with a superb evening meal including lobster. The breakfasts were amazing and set us up for the day ahead. As others have mentioned the Casa is furnished with some beautiful antiques and artifacts and Luis really does make you feel like part of his family. We would recommend this Casa without hesitation and whilst it is not one of the cheapest, the service and standard of accommodation are well worth the extra cost.

“Great hospitality, excellent trip advice!”

Even though no room was available when we arrived, Miguel arranged a great alternative casa in Havana for us. On top, he gave us some great advise for casas all around Cuba. Not to mention that he called for reservations too. What a relaxed way to start your Cuba trip!

“A lovely Casa in the real Havana”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

Casa Luis was the first casa particular we stayed in on our arrival in Cuba, and a nice introduction to the country and the people. Luis is friendly (though a little stiff) and informative and his family and staff were very welcoming and friendly as well, though the casa didn't have the personal feeling that I had in several casas I stayed in subsequently. Maybe because it was Havana, maybe because the casa is more established and "professional."
The casa is beautiful, with its colonial decor, stained glass, and antiques. There's a lovely patio for drinks and conversation. Our room was comfortable but enclosed in the interior of the building with no windows, so we had to have the fan and/or air conditioning on all the time, which made it noisy for sleeping. The bathroom was large and well functioning. Meals were quite good and very plentiful, if a little pricey compared to other casas we stayed in subsequently (though one dinner included Spanish wine and one included beer) . The neighborhood is definitely "real," rather than "tourist" Havana--fairly run down but with people sitting on their stoops or strolling through the streets at all hours, making it feel very safe. It's just a block from the Malecon, so perfectly placed for evening strolls, and easy to get around by foot or bus. I would definitely recommend this casa.

“Casa 1932 made our Cuba trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

Casa 1932 is a fantastic place to stay - not just because of the beautifully decorated casa, the exquisite meals, or fantastic location in the heart Old Town but because Luis and his brother (and the whole staff) are lovely! Luis helped us in organizing our entire Cuba trip. He has a great list of other recommended Casas. Casa 1932 made Cuba for us.

Our other thoughts/discoveries;
-loved staying in La Boca and biking into Trinidad and Playa Ancon (see Casa Florida) they can organise a great dive with Pete
-regret stopping in Matanza go straight to Varadero. There are actually some reasonable quaint ( not massive package tour hotels) on the north side. I didn't want to go but was pleasantly surprised the beach was spectacular
-Vinales we thought was not as good as the hype, would have preferred to push further east instead
-don't underestimate the size of Cuba thus travel time - to see it well you need at least 2.5 weeks
