“Charming boutique hotel, warm hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Sonrisa is a lovely small hotel on a quiet street in Kralendijk. We had a great room with fast (free) wifi, a fridge, comfortable bed, etc etc. Restaurants, supermarkets and dive school are all within short walking distance.
So far, a sweet and lovely place. But then, Jacqueline (the owner) creates the real difference. She is very warm and welcoming, and really looks after all her guests. She starts an early breakfast service when we were having an early dive, she manages to book the last available rental car for us, while introducing the hotel guests to each other in a pleasant way. And thes are just a few examples.
We´ll definitively come back to Sonrisa. My only concern is the number of positive reviews - I hope Jacqueline will still have a room available next time we´ll visit Bonaire!

The owner made me feel welcome from the moment I checked in 'till I left. I will defenitely come back to stay at Sonrisa!

I have been working in a South American country. I was able to have a nice break at Sonrisa.

In the past, my husband and I have primarily chosen big name resorts for our trips. But in Bonaire, there are no big names so rather than go with a big resort we chose this boutique hotel. I am very glad I chose Sonrisa based on others' reviews. As others have mentioned, Jacqueline makes you feel very welcome and will fill you in on all there is to do and see in Bonaire. She even helped us schlep our suitcases to our second floor room overlooking the pool--in the rain! Our standard room was nice-sized with a very comfortable king bed and plenty of space along with a welcome mini-fridge and room safe. The outdoor deck with table and chairs was a nice addition, and the deck was a good spot to dry our snorkeling duds each day. A/C worked well on these hot (85-90F) and humid (75%) early December days. Breakfast was available each morning at around 8:15am--not too early nor too late--and included your choice of sandwich as well as yogurt, fresh fruit, occasional sweets, and really great coffee along with tea and orange juice. A sandwich for breakfast was unusual for us Americans, but it was a great way to fuel up before our daily snorkeling adventures. It is a short ~10 minute walk into town for shopping and meals as well as access to the beach. BTW, the whole island is a public beach, although access is sometimes through private property such as Plaza Resort. Good location with no worries about security and good value.

Room Tip: I always choose a high level room to avoid hearing neighbors above, but this is such a small hotel I...

“Paradise”

This will be our third visit to the island and we look forward to seeing our friends Jaqueline and Roger again as well as the other friends we've met met while staying at Sonrisa. My wife and I are avid windsurfers and Sonrisa is truly paradise for us. The rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfortable and the free breakfast are great but most of all we appreciate our hosts who are truly warm and welcoming. Since we don't particularly like 'feel' of larger, impersonal resorts, we find the quality and tranquility of boutique hotels to suit our tastes. Since Sonrisa and Bonaire Windsurfing Place are affilliated, you get outstanding value from the package deals. If you are going to Bonaire to windsurf, this really is the place to be.

“Great place to stay in Bonaire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

My family and I stayed at this lovely boutique hotel for a week during September 2011.I would thoroughly recommend anyone travelling to Bonaire to consider this hotel. The hotel itself is small with good sized rooms. Everything was spotlessly clean and a nice breakfast was provided each morning. The grounds of the hotel are very well kept and there is a nice pool to jump into after a day in the sun.The owner, Jacqueline was available every morning for a chat and was always ready to offer advice on activities and to arrange trips and tours to places of interest. The hotel is within walking distance of many good restaurants and there are also two large resorts nearby where you can use the facilities and snorkel from their beaches. All in all I would say Sonrisa is like a home away from home and if your looking for nice accomadation with friendly service you cannot go wrong.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms have a lovely outlook.
