“Second time around”

Second time staying at Bonaire Fun Apartments. That says something!

Great value, great location, safe, and best of all Roland and Irene made our stay 'Fun'. I guess that is the 'Fun' in Bonaire Fun Apartments.

The new restaurant across the road has breakfast and a Thursday night BBQ. A great gathering of visiting divers and locals.

Diving with Wanna Dive this time. The truck rental via Island Car Rentals. Paula picked us up and arranged for dropoff at the rental office (conveniently across from the airport) for our early flight back to Canada.

I know I will be visiting Bonaire again as the diving is the most relaxed. I am sure to lookup Roland and Irene again!

Room Tip: Talk to Irene and Roland about what you want. They are very accommodating.

“Excellent stay”

This place is a little gem. We stayed here in June of 2011 for our first-ever visit to Bonaire, and were very pleased with our visit. From the first moment we e-mailed Roland and Irene, we were put completely at ease. They answered all our questions, not just about the hotel but also about Bonaire.

Once we arrived, we found ourselves in an excellent location close to town. The accommodations at BonaireFun are modest, but tastefully done and very well kept, clean and safe. The perfect pied-a-terre, complete with a little kitchenette where we could cook instead of going out. The grounds are nicely landscaped, and there is even a terrace above the apartments where you can watch the sunset and look over the surrounding area. Each room has its own individual patio with a dinner table. We enjoyed sitting out there at dinner time sharing a few drinks and laughs with our neighbor. The value is perhaps the best on the island. It was very hard to leave, especially because we had an adorable little cat that took to our patio.

Our package included a rental car (highly recommend this because it would be hard to fully enjoy Bonaire without a car).

We look forward to going back someday! Thank you Roland and Irene.

“Good location and great deal.”

Stayed at BonaireFun for the second time. We were there for 2 weeks and everything was fine. Can't beat the prices. Our package included rental car, room, and unlimited shore diving with Dive Friends. We were able to save a little money by making dinner in our kitchen on a couple nights. The apartments are basic but well equipped. There's a very nice sun deck on the rooftop where you can watch the sun set or just hang out. The owners, Roland and Irene are very friendly and make you feel welcome.

My only 'complaint' is the amount of mosquitoes in the apartment. Maybe this is normal for Bonaire? This time we brought a mosquito net for our bed at night and it made a big difference,

“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

We stayed a week at Bonaire Fun Apartments in late May 2011. The experience was unforgettable and pleasant. All the rooms open onto an enclosed garden, and all have outdoor tables. A rooftop deck offers evening breezes and views of the starscape at night, and wild parrots and orioles in the morning. The rooms themselves are charming, clean and comfortable (featureing built in concrete couches and beds - cool). The hosts (Roland and Irene) are very kind and gave us great advice on where to eat (we are vegetarian) and especially where to snokel. We had a wonderful time and would definately stay at this place again. Smiley and Sunny, canine co-proprietors are a joy and there was one gorgeous orange tabby to greet guests.

In terms of finding vegetarian food, there is no one specific vegetarian resturant, but almost all resturants we went to would make something for us (and they were delicious). Bonaire has great chefs. Recommand restaurants: Plazita Limona (get the Paella Vegetariano), La Barca, Capriccio Ristorante.

For those who have never been to Bonaire here are a few things to note: It is Hot. The sun is intense. Fortunately it is easy to tell where you missed applying sunblock (those parts just fall off). Drive carefully. There are lots of Lizards, goats, donkeys and dogs to avoid on the roads. Some roads are only wide enough for 1 car. Around 1700 traffic gets intense, although there are no traffic jams at all.

Overall, Bonaire is an unforgettable adventure with lots of cool little surprises we will let you discover on your own.

“Great place to stay! We got so much more than we paid for!”

This is one of the less expensive places we found online and it was above and beyond what we were expecting. The owners were extremely easy to contact and ask questions and to and work with. The place was on a quiet street and very secure. Very cute and clean and comfortable. It had a wash bin for scuba gear, places to hang gear and clothes to dry, a cool roof patio type thing, etc etc. I would definitely stay there again!
