I have been scuba diving for 36 years and have been to resorts all over the world and on some liveaboards. My favorite spot is the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort.
I first stayed at the resort in 1981 and have returned there 18 times. On my first visit to Bonaire, the hotel did not have TVs or phones in the room. Now every room has a TV and a phone, and there is a small business center in the main lobby. Throughout the years, the resort has undergone a number of renovations, and yet it still retains its island charm. The hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. On one trip we were celebrating friends' anniversary, and the staff arranged for us to have a celebration party (including a lovely cake and decorations) one evening.
The dive shop is staffed by professional, friendly, helpful people. I always feel at home when I walk to the dive shop and hear, "Welcome back!" from one of the dive staff. From the time you check in to the end of your diving, you can count on all of the dive staff to make your trip the best it can be. I will always remember being on a boat with a group of disabled divers, and I was amazed to see the divemasters work with the disabled divers. The divemasters were professional and helpful enabling everyone on the boat to enjoy the dives. You can count on the divemasters help with gear, to give comprehensive dive briefings, to point out special things to see on each dive, and to help divers in and out of the water.
I plan to return to the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort in June and can’t wait to get there.
