“Great location, excellent accommodation for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

We have stayed twice at the Yacht Club apartments, once as a couple and once with in-laws and children.
The apartments are suited for both. Enough privacy for couples (eventhough located at a main road and lots of traffic, but still quiet) and very spacious for 5 people.

The two- bedroom/two bath apartments are wonderful to stay with friends or a large family, because you each have your own space. One very large living room + kitchen with modern appliances will make your stay very comfortable.

There is a small restaurant on-site for breakfast and dinner and while we never used it, it was always full with happy people (so I suppose the food is good).

The main reason we liked the Yacht Club so much is the location. Very central, you can go diving, out to dinner or go sightseeing for the day and you're never far from anything.
The owners were very laidback and friendly, check out was incredible (just leave the keys in the mailbox).

We will definitely go back.

“A great hotel for divers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

I've now made 5 trips to Bonaire and used the Yacht Club Apartments as my home base on the last 2 trips. The hotel is listed as having 13 units, these ranging from studio apartments through 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. All of them have cooking facilities which is handy for those who are early risers and/or trying to save money. Breakfast is served daily. There had been a restaurant on site but this was not part of the hotel proper and the operators are opening in a new location effective July 1, 2011.

I've stayed in both a studio and a one bedroom unit. Besides the kitchen unit each had a television (nice for catching the news) and a bathroom with a hot water shower. The dive locker on site is a good size and well ventilated. There is a nice large sink in the parking area that serves as a rinse tank for gear.

Probably the best thing going for the Yacht Club is its proximity to both the downtown district and several of the dive shops. There is an informal affiliation with Dive Friends Bonaire, one of the independent dive operations on the island; their Yellow Submarine location is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Virtually all of the major eateries are no more than a 15 minute walk from the Yacht Club. There is also a "people rinse tank", otherwise known as a pool on the property.

If you are interested in a nice, economical place to stay as a diver, I heartily recommend the Yacht Club.

“Spacious accomodation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

We arrived at the Yacht club in the early hours and were shown to our apartment. I don’t give opinions just facts because everyone has different tastes and expectations. We occupied apartment 9 a 2 bed 1 bath. There were 2 generous sized bedrooms (by UK standards). Bedroom 1 had 1 bedside cabinet, a cupboard, wardrobe and chair but no mirror. Bedroom 2 had 1 bedside cabinet and a sofa and a mirror. The bathroom was enormous and consisted of a shower that never failed to give plenty of hot water, a toilet with no lid, a basin with only cold water and a bathroom cabinet. The lounge, dining area and kitchen were open plan The kitchen had sink, hob (no oven), toaster, coffee maker, microwave, fridge and several utensils etc, the sink only has cold water and hot water can be boiled with a hob top kettle. There is also a wardrobe in the kitchen area.

The lounge has two sofas and an easy chair, coffee table, TV with lots of channels. The dining area had a glass table and 4 chairs. The outside patio had a drier and table and chairs.

The apartment was a corner plot so the patio saw very little daylight and we had to have the lights on when in. There is a mosquito problem and we bought mosquito coils for outside dining, we found them adequate and were able to eat outside most evenings.

The dive tack room was sufficient and had plenty of hangers, the rinse tank was a large size and was easy to empty and re-fill when necessary. The only problem we encountered was someone kept parking a red truck right up to the tank which restricted our access.

The owners were very friendly and overall the Yacht Club was an excellent base for diving the reefs of Bonaire, the bed linen and towels were changed every third day and we were able to stay in the apartment on the last day until it was time to leave.

Room Tip: pack lots of mosquito repellent

“Everything you want in Bonaire!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

We stayed at the Yacht Club Apartments over Christmas/New Year and it has everything you could need in Bonaire.
We had a studio and the rooms are spacious with a living room, double (comfortable) bed, bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped for basic cooking with a hob and microwave oven.
The resort has a nice sized pool, parking area and a locked kit room for divers which came in very handy.
Yacht Club is about a 20 minute walk into town, if you want to walk, turn left out of Yacht Club and walk towards the town, as you get to the blue building on the right side of the road there is an small alleyway with a couple of bollards in the middle of it. Walk down here and it takes you straight to the beach front and the walk into town. It isnt particulary bright of a night but the lights from other apartments/hotels/houses give enough light to walk there and back fine. (We only discovered this half way into the holiday so worth knowing!)
If your going during the "rainy" season take mosquito repellent for the early evening/night.
They come out around 6 and hang around the pool area!
Yacht Club Restaurant onsite is in our opionion one of the best restaurants on the island. Is a must whether you stay at Yacht Club or not! See seperate review on restaurant!
All in all, a very nice, comfortable living space for a 2 week holiday. Would definately reccomend and go again!

“Good, simple accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

Spent two weeks here, booked through Bonaire Fun Travel. Yacht Club's about half to three quarters of a mile from the centre of Kralendijk so a bit of a walk in the heat of the day and rather dark and unlit at night. We used a hire pickup to get about and to carry dive gear.

For divers it's got a rinse tank and lockable wet room, very handy. Great breakfasts unfortunately the restaurant was closed for our stay as the chef had broken his ankle. Our suite was large with bedroom, bathroom, sitting room/kitchenette and walk in closet with safe. Pretty basic but adequate though only the bedroom had aircon.

If you want a place to explore Bonaire and the great dive sites and want to keep it simple Yacht Club pretty much fits the bill.
