I had a tonsil cancer, and I went to Barbados to recover from my radiology treatment. During my online research, this apartment hotel seemed like a nice place, and my three weeks with them proved it. Proximity to the beach, food, walking distance to a couple of supermarkets, fantastic view from any room (I stayed on the ground floor and on the top floor).
Friendly people, cute British accent from most of fellow vacationers, I lived in the cloud of happiness. It was a perfect place to regain my strength and, basically, to return to life. I will never forget my daily walks on Rockley Beach and swimming in the warm Caribbean water.
A year later I stopped in Barbados during a cruise with my wife and daughter and took them to 'my beach' and showed them 'my hotel'. The reception girl was somebody new, but she was as nice as the ones I used to know there. She let us use wi-fi and enjoy air-conditioned atmosphere of her office. It was Christmas time and I gave her a present - a small spruce tree branch from my backyard in Seattle. I remembered that the owner is Canadian, she might have missed the real smell of Christmas.
If I can afford it, I will go back anytime with or without family. I am not exactly sleepless in my Seattle, but when it rains, I am daydreaming about Barbados. All the time.
The only little problem I had was some insect, or bird, or frog that made very loud noise as soon as the night fell on Barbados. The street noise below the balcony didn't bother me at all. It was even entertaining.
