We have very mixed feelings about this hotel's location. On the one hand, the location is perfect: it's in the center of St. Lawrence, close to all the restaurants and has its own beach access. On the other hand, it's across from a night club called Sugar Lounge. Sugar Lounge is an open air night club and it opens every Tue, Thur and Sat nights from 10pm to 4am. The loud music and bass rock/shack the whole area. We were not able to sleep until the club closes (after 4am). Unfortunately we didn't read this part of review and booked the hotel for 7 nights. It was too late to cancel our booking when we realized the problem because the hotel charged first 5 nights a month ahead and we were not able to cancel our booking according to their cancelation policy. Pls read yr booking cancelation policy carefully when making reservations. The staff were nice & helpful especially the young man. I got a bottle of wine for my Bday from the hotel. It was greatly appreciated. There is a convene store next to the hotel. Do NOT buy anything there unless it's an emergency. It is SUPER expensive. NY price. If you want to save money, you should go to any local supermarket and get the same products for 1/3 price. Buy Rum in the Rum factory for half of the price you would pay in any stores on the Island. Take local bus or local taxi for $1 (2 bbd) to get anywhere. Beware the local taxi can be crowded and driver plays very loud music but it's convenient. They pick you up anywhere and drop you off anywhere you want.

I have been may be 8 times in Barbados, always at the Rostrevor.

The Rostrevor is an extraordinary place if you love to read and enjoy the proximity of the ocean (there is a small, but very nice private beach). From the superior rooms, you are so close to the surf that you will sleep well and not even hear the 'lively' bars on the other side of the back street. You just have to keep your French doors to the sea side open and you drift off with the sound of the sea. The room/studios are equipped so you can cook your meals, and this is what we do most of the time.

If you want to be cajoled by the front desk staff this is not your kind of place. The staff could be icy, but they are honest. They will charge you 10 cents for the phone if you owe it, but they will not charge 15 cents.

For us who enjoy being close to the sea, they are not many places better than the Rostrevor in that price range. The place is also very clean. However, this is not a luxury place, it is a honest hotel, where you will be able to enjoy the sun and the sea.

Just returned from our 3rd trip to Barbados & loved our air conditioned room overlooking the beach in St. Lawrence Gap. Opening our french door each nite we were lulled by the waves & why we love this Southeast area. No need for a car was another plus for staying at Rostrevor. The Almond Restaurant adjoining provided good basic food with very cheerful servers. Also, The Harlequin Restaurant on the other side of the hotel had upscale dining with great service & wonderful food for evening dining. Partying is "just down the street " if you choose to participate around 10pm. Also, a convenience store is nearby which was very handy. We will stay here again with no hesitation!

My friends and I rented the two bedroom suite and we had a fantastic time. Front office staff were quite courteous and helpful in helping us plan some of our activities. Ideally located and for the price at St. Lawrence Gap (where all the action is) who can complain?!!!!

Will def stay here again!
