The hotel is ON the beach's doorstep! The hotel clearly was not 5*, but the wonderful staff and fantastic location definitely made up for it - an easy bus ride into Bridgetown or a short walk to some of the other beaches (amazing) and there are a parade of shops extremely close.

This hotel is pretty basic, but is in a great location. The hotel staff are very friendly and the rooms are very clean.
There are only two dissapointing things about this hotel and that is there is no beach area linked to this hotel where you can use a sun lounger for free. The hotel sun loungers are only on the balcony area so if you want to dip into the sea you have to walk down the stairs. Because of this we ended up walking up the road and using a different part of the beach, but you end up having to pay for a sunlounger. The other downside is that the pool was pretty dirty, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, so we never used it.
I don't think i would stay here again as would prefer an all inclusive resort but was a good hotel.

Great location but getting run down. I was in Barbados for my sisters wedding at Turtle beach resort.

Had booked a pool view room when I got there they had us on the 3rd story ocean view room. It was late and just took the room anyways. The next morning I went down to reception and they did not want to change the room, said they were all booked a year ago. I asked why did you approve our reservation she shrugged her shoulders and said I would have to ask the manager. About a half hour later they said they would switch our rooms but we would have to check out by noon and check in again later, was a bit of an inconvience.
The pool view room a great location but there was no water pressure and the kitchen was very small.
The beds are hard and I do like a firmer bed but I couldn't sleep very well on these beds.
They lock the gate to the beach fairly early in the night so you have to climb over the fence to take a stroll along the beach.
Did not appreciate the lady selling jewellery in the lobby only because she was very persistent and they also had a lady going around wanting to give foot massages and jewellery. A personal thing for me I don't want to be bugged while at my hotel save that for the street.

We just got back from a trip to the Caribbean where Dover Beach Hotel was our first hotel on Barbados before embarking on a cruise. The hotel is conveniently located between the airport and Bridgetown. It's a smaller hotel on the beach for a lot less than a lot of the other hotels that are on the beach. We booked it through Expedia and got the night for less than $100, which felt cheap. The hotel sits right at the ocean and it is a great place to go swimming since the surf is not too rough and the sandy beach has no rocks at all. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the rooms and common areas are very cozy.
The only downside in the Garden View rooms is that the doors can be very noisy since the sound in the hallways echos and there seems to be no gentle way of closing the doors but banging them. In our case, that wasn't much of a problem since there weren't too many guests but if it was fully booked I could see this become a problem. The Ocean View rooms do not seem to share that problem though.
Another not so great aspect was the breakfast: it was very spartan and not cheap and the coffee/tea were dreadful. You'd be much better of if you walked up the road and got something to eat in one of the smaller cafes and breakfast places that are in walking distance to the hotel. Although the restaurant is right at the beach, you don't have a view over the ocean since the restaurant is a touch lower than the pier so the view is blocked.
