Difficult to critique this hotel as I had a very happy time on holiday, however the hotel does have issues. Bearing in mind that it is very reasonable priced if booked through package, although prices direct seem rather more expensive. We paid quite a lot extra for a superior ocean view room, but were initially given a room that had a side ways view of the sea. Eventually this was sorted out and we were given the correct room on the 4th floor (room 419) which was well worth it. We could see the sun rise from one corner and the sun set from the other. Went to sleep with the sound of crashing waves evry night we were so near the sea.The room was fine for a 3 star and we had a kitenette. The bathroom could have done with a makeover. Bring your own hairdryer if don't want to borrow one from reception.
The hotel is in a great location, jutting out in between two small but lovely beaches. The restaurant overlooking the sea, was good and good value, the drinks especially at happy hour were extremely reasonable. (get used to Bajan service though!) Breakfast was very good. There was a nice pool, attractive gardens, 3 jacuzzis, two sun decks, a laundry, a shop with a lovely lady who was really helpfull and friendly, computer in reception area, wi fi. Beware of people bagging the sunbeds with towels. I experienced one couple who decided to bag 4 between them for the day, 2 in shade, 2 in sun, and it was often difficult to find a bed.
The hotel had a happy atmosphere, with mainly Canadian, Brits and a few other Europeans. The bar closed by 11 every evening, which is good if you want to sleep, but there is a little Chinese over the road which was fine for drinks later at night. A bit further along was a good restaurant, which was much nicer inside than it looked outside. Good pubby atmosphere. The food was good and reasonable. Think it was called Charlies.
Don't miss Oistins Friday night fish fry. Just so much fun. Starting about 6ish till the early hours. Get the ZR bus when it's dark otherwise a 10 minute walk during the day.Good place to visit during the day for the fish market, and if you go on the pier you can see all of the turtles. fantastic. There is also a well stocked supermarket and small bank with cash machine, just this side of the fish market. Just the other side of the market is Miami beach which is lovely. Sun beds to rent, a food caravan, and the nicest swimming beach, less rough.
A must to do is go on a catamaran lunch trip. I went with Stiletto and had an amazing day. Swim with turtles, wreck snorkle, great lunch, and all you can drink! for about £50 and it's 5 hours on the water & includes transfers from your hotel.
Try to get to see Hunte's garden if you can. Truly beautiful tropical garden created by a really interesting man who shows you round, and also his lovely house. Just like garden of Eden.
Back to the hotel, some of the rooms must have been quite noisy if you faced the road, and the room that we had to start off with was much shabbier than our upgraded room. However if you get a really cheap deal then be prepared to chew this off as I would accept this if I got a really cheap deal next time. Getting a studio with kitechenette is a useful bonus to save money on self catering.
A very enjoyable holiday.
