“Lovely Barbados”

Difficult to critique this hotel as I had a very happy time on holiday, however the hotel does have issues. Bearing in mind that it is very reasonable priced if booked through package, although prices direct seem rather more expensive. We paid quite a lot extra for a superior ocean view room, but were initially given a room that had a side ways view of the sea. Eventually this was sorted out and we were given the correct room on the 4th floor (room 419) which was well worth it. We could see the sun rise from one corner and the sun set from the other. Went to sleep with the sound of crashing waves evry night we were so near the sea.The room was fine for a 3 star and we had a kitenette. The bathroom could have done with a makeover. Bring your own hairdryer if don't want to borrow one from reception.
The hotel is in a great location, jutting out in between two small but lovely beaches. The restaurant overlooking the sea, was good and good value, the drinks especially at happy hour were extremely reasonable. (get used to Bajan service though!) Breakfast was very good. There was a nice pool, attractive gardens, 3 jacuzzis, two sun decks, a laundry, a shop with a lovely lady who was really helpfull and friendly, computer in reception area, wi fi. Beware of people bagging the sunbeds with towels. I experienced one couple who decided to bag 4 between them for the day, 2 in shade, 2 in sun, and it was often difficult to find a bed.
The hotel had a happy atmosphere, with mainly Canadian, Brits and a few other Europeans. The bar closed by 11 every evening, which is good if you want to sleep, but there is a little Chinese over the road which was fine for drinks later at night. A bit further along was a good restaurant, which was much nicer inside than it looked outside. Good pubby atmosphere. The food was good and reasonable. Think it was called Charlies.
Don't miss Oistins Friday night fish fry. Just so much fun. Starting about 6ish till the early hours. Get the ZR bus when it's dark otherwise a 10 minute walk during the day.Good place to visit during the day for the fish market, and if you go on the pier you can see all of the turtles. fantastic. There is also a well stocked supermarket and small bank with cash machine, just this side of the fish market. Just the other side of the market is Miami beach which is lovely. Sun beds to rent, a food caravan, and the nicest swimming beach, less rough.
A must to do is go on a catamaran lunch trip. I went with Stiletto and had an amazing day. Swim with turtles, wreck snorkle, great lunch, and all you can drink! for about £50 and it's 5 hours on the water & includes transfers from your hotel.
Try to get to see Hunte's garden if you can. Truly beautiful tropical garden created by a really interesting man who shows you round, and also his lovely house. Just like garden of Eden.
Back to the hotel, some of the rooms must have been quite noisy if you faced the road, and the room that we had to start off with was much shabbier than our upgraded room. However if you get a really cheap deal then be prepared to chew this off as I would accept this if I got a really cheap deal next time. Getting a studio with kitechenette is a useful bonus to save money on self catering.
A very enjoyable holiday.

i've been here 3 times now, I like this place, small basic hotel on beach, food is Ok though seems they have cut back on some servings of food, located in a good spot. Its quiet, not a place for kids, which I like, an older crowd, kept clean and family ran(or so ive heard) . You can get anywhere on island with Rasta cabs or busses ,taxis. Its such a beautiful Island.Best bang for the buck I think but there are many hotels to choose from

Room Tip: i get a room with a balcony , faces the house next door but u can see the ocean if u lean over, they...

“Bad standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We didn't like the hotel at all. First you get up to is a smelly front desk.

Starting with the rooms, there were not a tree star accommodation. Our room smelled a bit wet and soaked all the time.  The shower are not made for people over 1,75 m so we hade to bend to be able to shower. The toilet it self didn't flush proper. There's no window just an opening in the wall with ribbons.

The sheets were clean so as the towels but old and a worn, to worn to be at a hotel.
There is AC on the room but it's kind of on or off nothing in between seemed to work. The fan and the AC made the temperature good any way, but sleeping within the icing air wasn't a good idea

There's a door to the balcony and then shutters for an non existing window, which means you'll hear ALL the animals all night long. There could have been at least a curtain!

There are wifi in the lobby and restaurant, otherwise there is cable in the room, not good for smartphones or iPads.

The beach is wavey and it was quite okey. The pool area is divided and there are a quite nice pool. But there's a charter hotel, witch means you have to be out by 7.30 to get yourself a sunbed. Hysterical!ie

The restaurant has good prices during lunch, and on drinks all day.

We didn't have dinner at the hotel. The location if going with bus or cab is ok but it's in between the gap and oistins, about 10 minutes walking to nearest supermarket

We won't get back!

“Well worth the price”

we travelled to barbados for a week break, booked from british airways sale £495 per person, after reading a few of the reviews myself and husband were slightly nervous, but there was no need to be.
All in all you get what you pay for, the room was clean, daily maid service was good. We booked early so got complimentary breakfast which was yummy, did not have any complaints.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk to oistins were on a friday night they have a really lively fish fry, if fish is not your thing they also have a kfc and chefettes(roti, chicken, chips etc).
if you go with a open mind you will not be disappointed, the only one thing that we did not like was the fact that the block we were in had no lift, so we struggled with our luggage to the top of the block. whereas our friends got a room in the block were reception is located and had a lift.

Room Tip: get a room in the block were reception is located it has a lift.

“Better the second time around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as a stopover to and from Bequia. The first time we stayed they gave us room 224 which was awful. I booked Oct 5 on the recommendations on trip advisor and we were so disappointed. Obviously they gave the one of their worst rooms as we were just staying for one night. We had asked for a quiet room with a view of the pool and extra pillows 4 months ago. What we got was a view of the roof, road noise and no extra pillows. The air conditioner was really noisy and the bathroom looked out into the hallway. I felt like I was at a youth hostel.
The staff at breakfast couldn't be less interested in serving anyone no matter how politely people asked for coffee etc. We walked away disgusted, but decided not to change our plans to stay again in a week and we would just put up with the 2 star hotel as the night manager was of no help at all.
The girl at the front desk in the morning was much better and promised to try a get us a better room the next time.
The following week the same girl gave us a much better room, however it was facing the road, and the resturant staff was much better at dinner. The room was clean, although tired looking which is what we expected.
So my rating went up as we had a better impression the second time, however both times they tried to charge more than what we booked for, good thing I had my original booking with me.
What saves this place in my mind is the location and the value for the money. Its not for anyone expecting a nice hotel, but for a one night stopover its ok.

Room Tip: don't get Rm 224.
