My husband and I stayed at this hotel as a stopover to and from Bequia. The first time we stayed they gave us room 224 which was awful. I booked Oct 5 on the recommendations on trip advisor and we were so disappointed. Obviously they gave the one of their worst rooms as we were just staying for one night. We had asked for a quiet room with a view of the pool and extra pillows 4 months ago. What we got was a view of the roof, road noise and no extra pillows. The air conditioner was really noisy and the bathroom looked out into the hallway. I felt like I was at a youth hostel.
The staff at breakfast couldn't be less interested in serving anyone no matter how politely people asked for coffee etc. We walked away disgusted, but decided not to change our plans to stay again in a week and we would just put up with the 2 star hotel as the night manager was of no help at all.
The girl at the front desk in the morning was much better and promised to try a get us a better room the next time.
The following week the same girl gave us a much better room, however it was facing the road, and the resturant staff was much better at dinner. The room was clean, although tired looking which is what we expected.
So my rating went up as we had a better impression the second time, however both times they tried to charge more than what we booked for, good thing I had my original booking with me.
What saves this place in my mind is the location and the value for the money. Its not for anyone expecting a nice hotel, but for a one night stopover its ok.

We stayed here Mid January 2012 for 3 nights and would return to stay there again as it was a clean well run hotel, true the building is aging and but the tradeoff is it is in a good location on beach front between Oistins and St.Lawernce Gap . Too bad there were not sidewalks between those two locations walking on the busy roadside can be ...hair raising to say the least ! $1us for the bus ride or a taxi may be well worth it safety wise. Be sure to stop at the Surfer's Cafe resturant about 1 block before the fish market ocean side of the road great omletes for breakfast and suppers as well. Also checkout Miami beach which is just behind the Oistin snack shacks there are 15 or more that serve some reasonably priced delicous meals. The food entertaiment area is approx 1 city block long with a stage setup for performers in the middle. We were in Oistins early on a wed evening when it was still pretty relaxed and really enjoyed it. I can't imagine how crowded this area gets on a friday night but it would no doubt be a party. The Butterfly Beach Hotel has many returning longstay customers who I'm sure find the onsite restaurant/bar handy however I think most rooms have well eqiupped kitchenettes as well.

Stayed here over Christmas and New Year. The room was comfortable and clean and had a small kitchenette with a hob only if you wanted to cook. In general the staff were friendly with exception of a few of the bar staff. The men were chatty and friendly enough but a few of the women were very sullen and in one case downright rude. It seemed that everything was an effort to her.

The bar has two happy hours per day and the food is good either as a snack or a full meal and all reasonably priced.

The pool and jacuzzi's are clean but there could be a bit more cover available. Some of the sunbeds could do with being replaced.

The location was great and two really nice beaches easily accessed. Oistins is just down the road. I would recommend buying some fish from the market and cooking back in the room. The tuna and marlin were fresh and tasted fantastic. St Lawrence Gap is a short drive away on the Z bus ($2 bajan wherever you want to go) and has some really nice restuarants. I would also recommend hiring a car for at least a day and driving

The sound of the whistling frogs at night is at first quite odd but you get used to it and I even missed it when I returned home. I searched in vain trying to find one s they hide in the bushes.

Overall I enjoyed this holiday very much and will come back one day.

Stayed at Butterfly for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year. We stayed in an ocean view studio. Lovely view and had benefit of small kitchenette to make breakfast and lunch. We had a car for the 2 weeks so easy to get out and about and also got Z bus from outside to go to Crystal Waters BBQ and back from Oistins. The hotel could do with some touching up - they could do with getting rid of some of the old and tired sunbeds and getting some more sunbeds and umbrellas, the fencing on the deck only half painted, our shower had no power etc, rooms have no hair dryers, rooms have ironing boards but no irons - wouldn't take much to make it better. Free wifi near bar, restaurant and reception was great. Overall, enjoyed our stay but stayed at other places in different locations where bars more bars and restaurants are accessible. Would return if there was a good deal with ocean view studio.
