“If you're looking for budget, don't go to Barbados”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

These apartments are stuck in the past.

We stayed here for two days because it was the cheapest place on Barbados (which isn't that cheap), but for only twice the money you can stay in the best place on Barbados.

The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable, but speaks her mind so the place doesn't seem very professional: dogs run about the place, the apartments are small and right next to each other, and the grounds aren't very clean. The place needs renovation: it looks like it hasn't been renovated in years.

If you want to go to Barbados and want to spend as little as possible, stay here. But if you spend a bit more, you can get somewhere much better.

“Should get 5 circles... Depending...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I really loved this place as my first visit to the caribbean. Chandra who owns the place, definatly left an impression. She speaks her mind, which in the world of hosptality, is a welcome voice.
Some say it is uncaring and unhospitable, well go to the Almond then. You have to understand what your getting into for the price. That first trip I took to the Caribbean at the Angler is what got me hooked. Her cooking, and knowlege is first rate, which made my solo trip that much better.
Rooms were spartin, but I knew that going into it. The beach is incredible. Yes, you have to walk to it, but some of the best water you will ever see. At most, there were 3 others on the beach at the same time. And the views are the idealic caribbean beach.
So go enjoy Holetown, and make it back home with money in your pocket to go back the next year....

“Worst Experience Ever (Do not stay here)”

The pictures on the website showed as I booked this place that it was right off the beach and not a short distance from the beach. I was looking for direct beach access when I decided to book this place as I was alone. Even though the area of this hotel is suppose to be considered an upscale part of the island it's nestled between an area of opportunists (as another taxi driver called them) and actually about a 100 yards from the beach. When I arrived...it felt like going to an embassy as the gates are locked and the taxi driver had to blow his horn and a weired looking young guy finally emerged. It was raining yesterday 9/16/11 and I knew that but I was okay with that as I was going to just enjoy a room off the beach so I thought. When I had told my taxi driver where I was staying and told him I was excited about staying on the beach...he didn't really want to knock the place but yet he wanted to be honest with me. So he waited as he saw I was highly upset about what my expectations were. I got out the car as I told him I wouldn't be staying there and he waited. The scrappy young guy came out with two dogs as another person below pointed out in their post. The dogs are not on a leash, are some pretty big dogs and I didn't like the way the dogs rolled up on me and sort of started snapping at me. They saw I was bothered by them but slow in their response to get them away from me. Then the dog shook his nasty wet fur on me to dry it and that pissed me off further. I stressed I would not be staying there so he says I had to talk to the lady in charge. She came out and I told her I would be leaving. She said that's fine just cancel it. I asked for her to give me something stating they would not charge me but she said just go on line and cancel. Among my return to the US 9/17/11, I called my card for transactions and there is a charge pending from this hotel afterall. I will be disputing this charge once it posts to my account. This isn't about the money it's actually about not getting what you pay for and false advertising. Because of this experience I immediately changed my flight to return back first thing out of this country. I now wanted out and to go home. I immediately started changing my flight itenarary as I would now be leaving the first AA flight out 615am next morning and I did. If I could have found a flight that would have headed back to the USA that night (I didn't care if it would have taken me to NYC even though I live in Dallas I would have booked it but the taxi driver says the traffic going back to the airport was too bad and I could tell he didn't want to take me back. The Bajans I did meet for the one night (at another hotel-Sunswept) were very good people and were upset about my experience and they didn't want the bad perception on their country but overall this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will probably never return here because of it. If you can catch on that I had planned to stay a few days and left before the sun was up the next morning...I think you should get the point. Feel free to go,just don't stay at Angler Apts.

“Cozy, quiet, clean and comfortable. We surely will be back.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Very accommodating and excellent beach just five minutes walk away. Ms Chandra Gosain organised everything I requested of her with loads of enthusiasm, such as pick up from the airport, rental of a car, the fruits from the compound (breadfruit and chenette) and of course an air-conditioned apartment with kitchenette, comfortable beds, cable tv toilet & bath with hot and cold water and large parking facility that we needed.

Beautifully arranged room, even though small, gave us everything we required for our ten (10) days stay and never did we experience any discomfort. The establishment is on one third of an acre of land and carried with it a small staff who also extended encouragement anytime we requested from them their service. This definitely made the ambiance very warm and friendly as is described of Barbados. Ms Gosain willingly provided information about where to go to get shopping items, sightseeing and the nightly entertainments and of course the valuable map. We were not there for the night life and sightseeing but we appreciated the knowledge of where and how to get there. We most definitely got more than what we expected and you would not believe that this is no five star apartment.

Will see me on my return.

“Lovely Place ...very relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2011

Our stay at the Angler Apartments was wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the kitchen is very complete. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and had many wonderful and relaxing conversations with our fellow guests while we enjoyed our morning meal. We would definitely stay her again and recommend the Angler Apartments to everyone who wants to stay in a central location and enjoy world class hospitality.
