You do not know who is writing the reviews, but if you read enough of them.....a general impression will rise.....and reality will speak. People have different preferences and reasons for their choices..........but.....choose again...right away!
I was asked to check this hotel as friends had booked to stay for the month of February. It should be an embrassment to the Babados Tourism Authority to have this hotel listed on their site. Yes, it is old....but any resemblance to the current website is located in its distant past! I saw a bathroom with a hole in the ceiling also....and the furniture was disgusting.... and I will not even go into decor. The broken cider block steps leading to the tangled bush which you need to navigate to access lovely Batt's beach...only add to the sad state of repair of the hotel.
I was already staying on the island when I received an urgent call to rescue my friends from this dump. They lost their deposit...seems like that is a practise of this establishment.
One review is "over the top".......so I wonder who wrote that one???????

the WALMER LODGE is A NASTY disturbing place that shouldn't be ON THE BARBADOS TOURIST list. it makes THE ISLAND look bad. MY COUSIN AND went there thinking WE WERE GETTIN ON OF the best apts ON THE ISLAND instead WE GOT A 2 bedroom full OF wholes in the ceiling, AND a very DISTURBING SMELL. THE PERSON IN charged looked LIKE she was HAVIN A BAD DAY. WE wanted to cry AT THE "DUMP" WE would have CALLED HOME for the next FIVE, days we left AND FOUND A wonderful room AT THE MELROSE ATPS. WE are born BAJANS and that this even allow A PIG TO stay there, YEAH its that BAD. KEEP LOOKING. the tourist POLICE needs TO INSPECT the site AND SHUT IT down.

I agree with other reviews that the Walmer is a bit past its sell by date but it does have some things going for it.we've stayed there 3 times so far and would stay there again.for us one of the main points is that it's not near the main touristy areas,more like the real Barbados.second point is the super beach at the back which is mostly almost empty.If you want to stay somewhere away from the ratrace,with a great beach,and dont mind roughing it a bit,Walmer lodge could just be for you.If you want all the comforts etc,try somewhere else

I rented through Internet. The picture they post on their site is ABSOLUTELY false! A dump! We had exactly the same experience as the rewiew titled "Don't even think about it" We decided to forfeit our deposit and went looking for something else. If you plan on staying at the Walmer, you should instead think about going camping... We ended up in St-Lawrence Gap and it is THE place to be in Barbados!
