I am writing this in the Walmer Lodge, with free WiFi. I rather like this place, and am surprised by the couple of aggressive earlier reviews.
- If you are a party animal with a lot of money to spend and you like to have cocktails served while you are relaxing at the pool, this is not the place for you.
- If you like a basic and quiet apartment with a low rent and outside the tourist area (but close to it, and close to Bridgetown), this might be the place for you.
- If you are working or studying at the West Indian University or the National Archives (both across the street), this might be the perfect place for you.
- The apartments have kitchens, living rooms, air conditioned bedrooms and balconies.
- It’s old, but for me that’s part of its charm. In my apartment everything is functioning (except the bottle-opener).
- The apartments are cleaned every day, including towels and bed sheets.
- I find the owners very friendly.
- The hotel is 3 minutes walking to a 24 hour gas station, bar, pizza place and convenience store.
- It has a factually private beach in the back yard.
- In my apartment, I didn’t smell anything disturbing and didn’t see holes in the ceilings.
- It’s interesting to note that none of the people who wrote a bad review actually STAYED in the hotel.
