“The Best Beach Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Pompano Beach Club has the charm of a family-owned bed & breakfast with the efficiency of a top of the line international resort. The staff was friendly and professional. We loved everything about this beautiful spot on the island. Our room was a few steps up the hill but we didn't mind the exercise and loved the view - I'm sure they would let you select a room closer to the beach if that is a preference.

You won't want or need to leave the resort, everything is there for a great relaxed getaway. Even the food plan (that they make available at an additional charge) was great -- especially when you consider how many people they serve every breakfast and dinner. We are already preparing our next trip for next summer. I have a feeling we will be re-visiting every other year if not every year. We're not alone - seemed a lot of the visitors had been there before. This one is a keeper.

“I didn't need to be so worried about the other reviews! The place was great!”

We spent 5 nights at the Pompano Beach Club right after Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We wanted to try a new place in Bermuda and to be on the beach. The Pompano was fantastic with very welcoming and friendly staff. The food was really good and there were so many good and healthy choices which I appreciated. Our room was a one bedroom with an amazing panoramic ocean front view. I recommend going for a one bedroom. The bed was comfortable and we had no problems sleeping. The bathroom was lovely with beautiful tiles, double sinks and separate shower and tub. The hotel provided a shuttle to the grocery store, bus stop and even to your room if it was on the hill. The dining rooms were incredible with spectacular views. We were lucky enough with the weather. 3 days of sunshine and two cloudy with gale forces and some sunshine even on those days. I went swimming in the ocean on three days. Getting into the water was easier than getting into the water on Cape Cod in August. Go figure!
Their pool was heated and there are three hot tubs which were all divine. It was really an amazing stay and we might go back next year also after Christmas.
By the way, lunch prices are very reasonable and even less expensive than other restaurants around the island. Most days after touring around, we just returned to the hotel for lunch. We did eat at the Hog Penny which is a favorite of ours and we finally tried Rusticos which was excellent and reasonable too.

“Amazing Wedding Weekend at Pompano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My husband and I had our wedding "weekend" at Pompano in November (2011). Having family on the island and visiting often, I knew Bermuda was the place I wanted to celebrate this special occasion. Upon visiting Pompano as a potential venue, we immediately knew it was the perfect location for our destination wedding. Our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all took place at Pompano, and the majority of our guests stayed there as well. As mentioned in many reviews, the view from every part of the resort is breathtaking and displays the natural beauty of the island... But we chose this property because Pompano truly captures the charm of Bermuda - you feel welcomed and relaxed the moment you step into the lobby... and our 90+ wedding guests who traveled to Bermuda for our weekend expressed the same sentiment.

Pompano isn't your typical wedding "venue" as they don't have a specialized event planner, specific wedding itineraries, catering capabilities, etc. Because of this, you are able to choose how you want your day to go. This was perfect for me as I wanted to do all the planning, but if you don't want to be in charge of all the details and want hands-on planning help, you may want to hire a wedding planner. Hotel Management is extremely helpful and helped with any/all requests, questions, etc., and they will be sure everything goes according to plan (thanks Tim!). The Pompano staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and continually went out of their way to be sure everyone was enjoying themselves. They were pretty much part of the wedding by the end of the weekend!

Our one major concern was the meal service for our reception because of the large amount of guests all eating at the same time. To facilitate this process, we choose a set menu in advance and guests ordered from it as the reception began. In the end, we were amazed at how seamless the process went, perhaps slightly longer than a typical wedding service, but the food was great and everyone enjoyed their meals at their leisure. Overall, the "venue" turned out to be perfect for all our wedding day events - all our guests fell in love with Bermuda and Pompano. Also, the best pictures of the weekend are from sunset at Pompano, simply beautiful.

The resort is gradually making updates to the property which will make it feel a bit more updated (new pool deck furniture, new rugs, etc) but will still keep that Bermuda charm. The majority of our wedding guests had never been to Bermuda and every one of them said they would be planning a return trip, and will absolutely be staying at Pompano.

Thanks to the Pompano Management, Staff, and beautiful Bermuda (and lucky weather!), we had the perfect wedding weekend.

“The beds are very uncomfotable!!”

The beds are very uncomfortable and the grounds need some attention. It appears that they so not have a landscaping staff. Maintenance of buildings is lacking. Dated!!!!!!! Not all bad - food was good - staff was friendly. Great view.

“Location, people, and food -”

Loved my stay at family-owned Pompano Beach club. This resort has been owned by one American family for many years and they take pride in hospitality and service. All the staff are very pleasant, readily assist you with a sense of humor. Each room is different so ask if you have certain preferences. Mine was good sized, with a king size bed, large marble bath with separate shower and bath and two sinks, large porch facing the ocean. Very clean. Gym area surprisingly good, especially for a small resort. Several treadmills and other cardio equipment overlooking ocean, free weights, and universal equipment.

Nice beach area. Water was a bit cold (November) so I usually waded around - there are interesting rock formations/mini caves along the shore and it's all shallow so be sure to go beyond the beach. And the food! Amazing. Panko tuna to die for, as are the other dishes at dinner. Ran into one local businessman who goes there for his anniversary.

Couple of caveats, which are good if you prefer your resorts away from the action and with character. Takes about a 1/2 hour on the local bus to get to Hamilton and a long drive from airport. The ferry runs infrequently (at least in late fall), but takes less time. Many rooms require some stair climbing; it's hard to avoid steps as the property is on a hill. I liked the privacy, but if you have an aversion to steps, this may not be a good choice. They will shuttle you back and forth to your room.

And be sure to have a rum sizzle, and of course, one of my favorites, the Dark and Stormy.

Room Tip: Tell them your preferences (especially stairs) when you call.
