“Hidden Gem”

Have stayed at Robin's Nest the past two years in early May, while sailing at Bermuda Invitational Race Week. It's a great spot come back and crash at after a day on the water or beach, quiet at night. We rent a scooter, so the fact that it's a bit of a walk to beach or Hamilton is not an issue, the rooms have been super clean and very roomy, waking up to a nice sunrise, overlooking the pool and Rene's nice gardens is very relaxing and a great way to start another day in paradise.

“Casual, Friendly, Safe Neighborhood”

We have stayed at the Robin's Nest numerous times because our daughter lives close by. The Robinson family do a suberb job of maintaining their property. This is their home, too; they are always on site. If you are reasonably independent, are not troubled by a very short but steep walk from the bus stop and can enjoy living a bit off the beaten path, consider this property. Hamilton is 10 minutes by bus or 30minutes on foot to downtown. Grocery store is 20 min walk. Convenience store is 5 min. walk. Snorkling at Deep Bay can be wonderful and private (recently small tour boats have discovered this private cove-though since they drop anchor off shore, there is room for everyone); 10 min. walk. Beach and caves at Admiralty Park 15 min walk. The Robin's Nest pool is lovely, too. Renee Robinson is a lifelong gardener and the fruits and veggies she produces for her family are profuse and varied. Some plants on her property: bananas, avocados, figs, pawpaw, roses, flowering shrubs of all sorts, etc. Lovely! Though quiet in general, this is a neighborhood and there are day time activities and situations that may preclude sleeping in if your windows are open. There is a home being renovated next door and there is a dog a few homes over that usually barks for a few minutes infrequently during the day. With AC on you don't hear these things. We bring lots of food with us (refrigerator is small) and eat breakfast on out balcony :-). We've had family dinners at a table in the garden by the pool many times, too.

“Clean & Fresh - an excellently run family business and I would have no hesitation in recommending it”

My husband & I stayed at Robins Nest for 6 nights from 23rd – 29th August 2010 and we absolutely loved it. The owner, Renee, had warned us in emails to ensure the taxi driver dropped us at the Mounts Hill entrance which has no stairs, he didn’t, nevertheless she was there to greet us and help with our luggages. When we got to our apartment, the air conditioning was already on and it was very clean and fresh with beautiful marble floors. Everything you need. There is also a good size pool, with loungers and inflatable’s for the kids. To its credit it is an excellently run family business and I would have no hesitation in recommending it. In the morning, Renees’ son drove us to Hamilton (city) which is literally 5 mins away, he showed us the local sights, suggested activities and where we could hire scooters. You really should try everything Bermuda has to offer. We jet skied, parasailed and swam with the fishes…it was the holiday of a lifetime. The beaches are clean and easy to navigate, you simply must visit Clearwater beach.
Eating out can be very expensive though for what it is and I suggest you take as much dry food as possible. The apartments have all the necessary kitchen utensils you’ll need. Bermuda is not the shopping mecca I thought, goods aren’t cheap despite the no tax claim but the people are approachable and friendly.

“Super Friendly, Quiet, and Affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

Did a last minute quick getaway to Bermuda in Mid-July. Found it hard to find last minute accommodations, but finally got a room at Robin's Nest.

Taxi ride from the airport cost about $35 (including tips etc). Robin's Nest is about a 15-20 minute walk north of Hamilton tucked away in a suburban neighborhood. We got a nice room (#2) on the top level of the "apartments" with a distant sea view and overlooking the pool. The room was quite spacious, clean, and well equipped. There is cable TV and free Wi-Fi access as well.

After we arrived and got settled in Renee offered to drive us down to the grocery store and bus station in Hamilton (we choose to use the bus system during our short stay and didn't rent scooters). This was a great help as I think initially it would have been difficult to find on foot (taxi costs approx $10 to central Hamilton from Robin's Nest).

If you choose to use the bus from Robin's Nest the bus stop is close and the bus system is great, except that route 4 (the loop that goes by Robin's Nest) ends at either 6pm or 615pm depending on the day. We didn't find it a big deal as we just did things in the area in the evening (such as Spanish Point and Admiralty Park which were a close walk down the road). Bus passes are they way to go as the the bus drivers are not supposed to accept cash, just tickets or passes. Bus is the most affordable way to travel and it can get you just about anywhere on the island and also includes the ferry service.

One night the owners family had a little get together and invited us down to for some food and socializing. We felt welcome and enjoyed our time listening and learning a bit about life in Bermuda (was definitely a high lite of our trip).

All in all if we do return to Bermuda some day we hope to stay at Robin's Nest again.

Thanks to Renee and her family.

“Bermuda on business”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2009

Wonderful stay here. My client booked this room for me. My client (he's a local) said he books all guests here. The room was great. Extremely clean, large, nice decor and the air conditioning was amazing. It came with a functional kichenette, and a safe. The owner was very helpful and very pleasant. Since I was on business and driven everywhere the location was not a concern. If I was here for a pleasure, it would be a little difficult getting to the tourist areas. The Hamilton waterfront is 2 miles away or a $12 cab ride, each way. Bermuda does have a great transit system though But if you want a beautiful quite spot the Robins Nest is highly recommended.
