My wife and I stayed at the apartments from Oct 20-23rd for a short, very unplanned getaway to Bermuda. I must say, after booking the airfare, everyone told me how expensive Bermuda was going to be. We are expecting a second child in January so we wanted to do a final beach getaway before number 2 comes and going off of tripadvisor reviews, we chose the Clairfont Apartments.

The vacation was wonderful. The apartments, we stayed in a one bedroom, are large, fully equipped, clean and have everything you need for an extended stay.

Corinne, who you will read a lot about on this site, is great. She gives you a full recap of the island, the bus routes, things to do, etc. Everything she tells you is dead on. If the beach is 5 minutes away, it really is 5 minutes away. We traveled with a 22 month old and had a very relaxing wonderful getaway.

The apartments have a nice crib, it was great, our daughter slept like she was at home leaving my wife and I time to relax for the night.

The people of the island are very nice as well. Corinne arranged for a taxi for us to pick us up at the airport. Do this. It is about 10 dollars more expensive than the normal fare, but Corinne arranges you to get bus passes for the island (NO RENTAL CARS FOR VISITORS) and to stop at the supermarket.

I was on Supermarket sweep running through getting all the groceries as the only time the cab meter runs (flat fare from the airport) is when you are getting groceries, we got just the right about of food for 3 days. Perfect.

If you are coming here and want to really experience the island without the big hotel nonsense, this is the place for you.

My wife and I have stayed at huge 5 star resorts to small small rooms in Paris, this is a great value and would highly recommend.

Also for parents with small children, there is a playground right across the street from the apartments and also the Horseshoe Bay (15 - 20 min walk) has a great cove for your children to experience the water!

We just got back from 5 nights at Clairfont in Bermuda. We stayed in a studio apartment (#1) and were happy to find that we were a very short (~ 5 min) walk from the beautiful south shore beaches!! The location is quiet and beautiful. The apartments are clean, have many unexpected amenities (full kitchen, safe, digital cable, etc), and are a great value! I cannot say enough nice things about the owner, Corrine. She is a lovely woman and will go out of her way to help you. For example, on our last day we weren't scheduled to leave until later in the afternoon, and she allowed us to use one of the other unoccupied apartments to shower/rest before our flight after check out at no extra charge. On your first day there, she will give you a introduction to the apartment and the island. We enjoyed many of her suggestions, including Friday night happy hour at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and dinner at the Swizzle Inn.

We had Corrine arrange a taxi for us from the airport, which I highly recommend. The taxi line was very long when we got out of the airport, and it was nice to be able to walk right up to our driver. The cost is about the same as a normal taxi (we paid ~$40 with the tip). We took Corrine's recommendation and rented a scooter for our time there through Orleander Cycles. It was very nice to not have to rely on taxis and buses. Orleander will pick you up and drop you off directly from Clairfont to get your bike and the apartments have room to park right outside. We also really enjoyed renting a boat from Sommerset Bridge Watersports to snorkel and travel to beaches on the small islands.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Clairfont Apartments when I was researching accomodations for our family trip to Bermuda. I was looking for something close to the beaches on the south coast yet easily accessible to Hamilton and Dockyard. I also wanted a place where we could relax and not be wound up into the frenzy of resort living. I wanted a place where we could cook some of our own meals, knowing how expensive it would be for a family of four to eat every meal out. Well.....Clairfont Apartments meet all of the criteria and more. We were so please with everything including the big bonus.... Corinne, Andrea and Nicole. These ladies run a top notch place. Thanks Clairfont... we hope to see you again.

We celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary in Bermuda. We stayed a week and wanted a place that was more like home than a hotel. This was just perfect and was close to several beaches including Horseshoe Bay (our favorite). The service was great. Corrine went out of her way to help us.

This is not a five-star hotel, but it had all we needed and was comfortable. Please note that all the units are furnished differently---some better than others. Ours was one of the older ones and has a very small hot water heater so I would recommend you not stay in that particular unit. I think the unit number is 3.

You may want to visit a little later than May. The water was too cold to get in for us. Try June or July for warmer water. It will be gorgeous no matter when you travel. We have been to Hawaii twice, and I really think these beaches are as beautiful if not more so than Hawaii. The sand is great to walk barefoot and Bermuda is just more of a laid back atmosphere than Hawaii. We took the bus and ferry everywhere and always had a ride within 10-15 minutes. It was very relaxing.

I would never get a Moped---looks too dangerous on those narrow roads and they drive on the left. A good place to eat just good American food is Paraquet (pronounced parakeet). Nothing fancy or too expensive, just good food. I do not recommend any beef in Bermuda. We tried one hamburger and it tasted wild. No problem with chicken or fish. A real nice sandwich shop is The Lemon Tree in Hamilton. Great chicken salad and homemade bread. Have fun!
