“Great little find until the public beach with thumping music kicks in on the weekends.”

Truthfully, this could be the best deal on the island - love the location, love the staff, love the room, love the restaurant for what we are paying at high season. There is one major downfall and that is the public beach which MVC has access to, has a few locals that are disrespectful with their blairing music during the day and also the last two nights (fri & sat night) and also this afternoon a local family had come to the beach and brought two dogs - which was fine until one took a poo on the beach in the middle of everyone sunning and just kicked a little sand over it without any care for health or if someone walking the beach would get their surprise. This is our third trip to Aruba and the first two were more isolated and did not have public parking for the beach like MVC does, which helps keep down the riff raff from making for a less than pleasurable experience. I dont mean to insinuate the locals are riff raff because my wife and I love Aruba - and will be coming here for years - however - its episodes like this that make us want to take out tourism and vacation dollars elsewhere. I recommend that if you do stay here or anywhere, that you call the police department which is 100 for Oranjestad and they will get a patrol over to take care of the situation. We love Aruba. We love the people, the culture, the rubbing elbows with our European friends and highly recommend coming to eagle beach. MVC is a great place as long as the inconsiderate locals don't rain on your vacation. People staying at MVC are from Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, France, and other fantastic European countries and a few Americans too but not many. The crowd is older at an average age of 55 is my guess. Carrying your chair to the beach isn't too bad either. If the island can keep their disrespectful locals in check then I would consider staying here again but we have decided that instead of instantly knowing we are coming back to MVC that we are going to check other locations for our next visit. We did feel very safe and secure at the MVC and thank them for an otherwise wonderful time except for the jerks with the loud thumping car rattling eardrum violating music at 2-3 in the morning, the revving engines and the one gentleman that did not clean up after their dog. I use the term gentleman very loosely, and if you're local - you should be doing everything in your power to have repeat business and every reason to return to your beautiful island. The economy of the USA and Europe are hurting and every tourist dollar counts. Don't hurt yourselves by allowing a few to spoil it, keep the bad elements responsible for their actions. Fining for noise ordinance violations would curb the music and also bring in additional income for your police branch. If the locals were more responsible on public land, MVC would be 5 stars but when you see pooing dogs, hear loud inner city style thumping music and inconsiderate smegheads revving their engines at 2 in the morning - it loses 2 stars in my review.

“Can't wait to go back”

Just returned from our one week stay at MVC. Let me start by saying this was our 7th trip to Aruba but our first at this location. Through the years we always stayed at an all-inclusive. This year I felt like we experienced Aruba for the first time!! It's really true that the restaurants are amazing.

Back to the hotel. We loved it here! Very small, clean, comfortable place. They do not offer any frills so if pools, spa and entertainment are important...this is not the place for you. We wanted a place where we could enjoy the beach all day and sleep at night. We spent much time at the hotel than we expected to though. The courtyard was lovely in the late afternoon and we used the table and chairs on the balcony every day too! Sitting outside the room with a glass of wine after being out in the evening is a nice way to end a perfect day!

Christy, who works in reception is wonderful. We felt like family from the moment we checked in. She helped us with anything we needed and always made sure we were enjoying ourselves. The entire staff have a special way of making you feel like family. It was actually hard to say goodbye :)

We travel to Aruba once every year and there is no doubt that MVC has become our new home!!

“great value on beautiful beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at MVC and would happily stay there again. We stayed in room 105 which is in the center of the top floor. From there, the view is mainly of the roof of the tulip restaurant, but you also get a glimpse of the beach.

The pros: the location is awesome (right across from the beautiful and uncrowded Eagle Beach, conveniently between Oranjestad and the high rise district), the rooms were immaculate and the decor is modern, the wifi worked fabulously in our room, it was very quiet, and the rooms are a great value (we booked through priceline for $145/night).

The cons: the safe in our room was broken and not usable; the luggage rack was also broken, but was usable; the shower has only one tiny shelf for a bar of soap, so our shampoo bottles had to sit on the shower floor; there is a pedestal sink and one small shelf for toiletries, but no additional counter space in the bathroom; it's not comfortable to relax in the courtyard after dinner begins because the Tulip restaurant is right beside the courtyard where people are dining outdoors (but there are small tables on the landing outside each room to relax outdoors in the evening); and finally, the only significant con: we felt that the staff was disingenuous with us when they said that instead of using our room phone (60 cents per minute for local calls) to book tours, they would be happy to book them for us. After requesting they book a particular tour for us, one staff member said that she didn't know of the tour and another staff member suggested that they had gone out of business. My husband asked that they please try the number we provided anyway. When we came back, they had reserved the tour for us, but said we needed to leave $10 of the total tour cost with them as "a deposit," which was obviously the fee that they kept for making the call. It just left a bad taste in our mouths because they were not honest about the process.

Overall, it's a lovely, inexpensive hotel and the beach is so beautiful! We enjoyed our stay here very much.

Tips: The South-bound bus stop to Oranjestad is marked with a yellow "bushalte" sign. The North-bound bus stop to the high-rise district is not marked with a sign, but you'll wait by the shoulder area where there are black and white markings on the curb. Both stops are right outside the hotel. You can also safely and easily walk to the high-rise district if you don't mind the distance (it's less than 5 km) because there are nice shoulders along the side of the street for walkers and joggers, and even the directionally-challenged won't get lost. We didn't walk to Oranjestad, but it would probably be doable as well, though a bit farther.

I would merely like to comment on the professional reply issued by Mr. Pepe of MVC Eagle Beach Resort to the occupant who wrote the initial review of his incident of Nov. 7, 2011. In my opinion, Mr. Pepe's timely reply adeptly addressed the issue and felt he handled the matter in a most professional manner. Cudo's to Mr. Pepe.

Just want to take a minute to let the folks know what a wonderful place this is. We were lucky enough to spend 3 weeks at the MVC and was so pleased with the hospitality that we received. Christine thanks so much. Diane Kevin and the housekeeping crew are great. We will return whenever possible.

Room Tip: A good view can be had in 101 or 102
