This time share property sits on a prime section of the beach, with the similar Ocean Club and Marriott casino hotel next to it. We booked the property directly through Marriott and received daily maid service, which time share users don't normally get. It's about a 15-minute ride from the airport to the hotel.
We had a 1-bedroom unit which included a full kitchen, living room and master bedroom with jacuzzi. Overall the unit was nice and spacious but there were a few issues, most notably an extremely uncomfortable sofabed used by my college-age son. We had spectacular views of the shore from the room and a balcony that overlooked it. For a PC or smartphone, wi fi service is available free in the lobby and pool areas, while a (slow, but also free) wired connnection must be used in the room. There are several pool areas, a relaxing lazy river, shuffleboard courts, and a couple of bar/restaurants once outside. If interested in the lazy river, you can probably find inner tube-style floats left behind by departng guests that will save you the cost. Food was pretty good, but the selection was somewhat limited. There are four or five barbeque grills, which I never thought to use, but will consider using next time after seeing how clean they were kept by the hotel staff. (For those new to Aruba, bear in mind that the better restaurants are quite expensive and the food is mostly unexceptional.)
The beach gets fairly crowded, and if you plan on spending a lot of your time there, it's wise to rent a hut to provide some shade. The windy conditions typical of Aruba, tend to make it feel cooler than it is, so take precautions against sunburn.
We had a rental car and made a few trips to the local supermarket for supplies. I have mixed feelings about the rental car. While a nice convenience, it cost about $400 total for the week for a small car in poor condition with a lot of miles on it. I also got lost a couple of times, which hopefully wouldn't have been a problem with taxis.
We played golf twice at Tierra del Mar--very overpriced, but the only 18-hole course on the island. Be prepared for the wind to give your game fits!
We had stayed at the Ocean Club about three years ago and found it to be quite similar. All in all, the Surf Club was a good choice.
