We were there the week on Dec. 10, 2011. The two bedroom timeshare units are beachfront with a beautiful view. Great outdoor restaurant with good food on site with happy hour 2 for 1 drinks 3 times a day! Staff was very friendly. It is away for the more commercial part of the island yet five to ten minutes from anywhere you want to go. There is a casino and golf course within walking distance. Great beach. I would go back there in a minute.

My wife and I were at Casa Del Mar Dec 2011. The staff is not very helpful. You get nickeled and dimed for everything at this resort. Front desk will not assist you with phone calls or reservations. There is no consierge and the business center has such limited hours its impossible to use. The 2 bdm suite was beautiful. Very clean, great view. The beach area was very small, and whats with these people saving all the huts and chairs at 6am. Please, get a life, your on vacation. The resort was nice but we will not be going back. There are to many better choices on the most beautiful island in the caribbean.

We have stayed at this resort before and we stayed 11-27 through 12-03-11 in the Ambassador Suites, room 1431. The rooms are going to be upgraded and this will be a good improvement in the overall facility. The rooms are all nice size and our housekeeper kept our room spotless. The facility houses 1-BR apts. over 4 floors.
Good things about the facility: the ambassador suites are like having your own private hotel. It is quiet, not really that busy, and the pool is generally being shared with 1 or 2 other couples. Being across from the Main building definitely has some pros as the Main Building is filled with lots of activity, kids, families, and the pools are crowded. The Beach area is very nice at the Main Building with plenty of chairs and a beautiful view. Beach area is clean, water was rough but there were many storms in the area so I can't truly give a negative score. If you don't like to walk a little ways to your beach area, the Ambassador suites are not for you. They just installed air purifiers and dehumidifiers in the rooms and it has made a drastic improvements in the air quality since the last time we stayed here. Pool staff is always attending to the pool areas every morning and you felt good going into the pools/spas with no concerns. View from the room was very good as well.

Needs improvement: Staff at the front desk are not friendly and not very accommodating. The bed in our room was probably the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on away from home ever. It was terrible. The pillows were like pancakes. It made my back ache for most of the trip and that is probably why I am only giving an average overall rating. It was significant enough to me that it dampened my enjoyment in Aruba due to pain.

Overall, I would hesitate to recommend to go back until I saw some of the improvements made prior to my stay.

I have stayed at the CDM every year for over 10 years. It is in the low rise section. I appreciate the quiet enviornment and pleasant staff. The food at the onsite restaurant is also excellent. I highly reccomend it!
