“One of the BEST.. LOVED IT”

I traveled with my family to celebrate my brother's wedding. We got a two bedroom and it was HUGH. It may not be fancy but it was extremely comfortable. I am VERY dissapointed to read such bad reviews as it was a great place to stay. We did not rent a car as we felt walking was better. We like the exercise. It was away from all the high rises which was awesome. We would walk to all the action and after we would walk back. There is a lot to do and most of the time we weren't even in the room. I recommend the La Quinta to EVERYONE.. I can't wait to go again next year :o)

“La Quinta, a nice place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

This is our 5th trip to Aruba, we have stayed at Caribbean Palm Village, La Cabana (3 Times) and now La Quinta. What we liked about La Quinta was the place was very friendly, large pool, great beach, and nice little bar. We had a one bedroom suite which met our needs, maid service every day and within minutes of the grocery store. When we go back, we will look to stay again at the La Quinta. The only issue is they have one elevator and it is small and did break down, but it was after the luggage was already in the room. They were very prompt in getting it fix the next day. We had a great stay.

Another good thing, we were not asked to attend any presentation for a timeshare. They supply you a pool towel per person and you can exchange it daily.

It is recommended that you rent a car to get around, driving in Aruba is not hard, and they have signs at all intersections.

This is a place if you want to relax, kick back and not be bothered by large crowds. You can read a book, sleep on the beach and enjoy the sun.

La Quinta like most Caribbean Timeshares have their additional cost for taxes and utilities. They also have an additional $20 bar charge which is not refundable, but you will get to meet a lot of nice people for a drink. The front desk staff (MeKeisha) does a very good job in explaining all the charges. Also, I was very well aware of these prior to my arrival. If you want to use their wifi internet for the week, it will cost you $25.00, they do have in-house computers to use for less.

The beach has chairs and huts that come with the resort, so no extra expense except a tip for the setup person. No one is on the beach trying to sell you anything.

The location is near a great restaurant, The Screaming Eagle. This is a must stop. It is near the Alhambra Casino as well. If you have a car, you are a short drive to Palm Beach where there are more restaurants and Casinos.

Room Tip: Ask for a Phase II Room

“Great beach, okay facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We used an exchange for this timeshare resort. The good stuff: Eagle Beach is one of the nicest on Aruba (and world class); LQ provides chairs and lounges. Pools are nice enough. The employees are friendly and helpful. The maintenance workers stay busy caring for the gardens and facilities. The one bedroom unit had large, comfortable rooms, including a kitchen, bedroom and dining/living area. Much more room than newer, more expensive resorts. The poolside snack bar is convenient and inexpensive, and the people are friendly.
I tried to use the phone after 11 pm but the switchboard was closed. Paid $25 for wireless internet but could not get a signal in my room. Had to go to the office to use it. After a rainstorm, the whole area reeked of raw sewage. No ventilation for the bathroom. Opened the window to air it out and within 5 minutes we received a call from the office to close the window, Facilities are somewhat dated, but adequate.

“Mixed Feelings......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Ok, so I've read all the reviews from positive to negative & I have to agree with all in part! The resort itself is lovely. If you want quiet & small it's the place to be. Yes, it may be slightly dated but the beds are huge & comfy and the air con works..... what more do you need? If you can get somewhere in Phase II they're neater & bigger. You do have to walk over the road to the beach but it's hardly a challenge..... probably only 1 minutes walk from most apartments. There are free loungers and shades on the beach for people staying at La Quinta & compared to the bigger resorts up the road, it's very quiet. There are 2 pools, the one in Phase II is bigger & has the bar but both were almost always empty & lovely for cooling off. The grounds are well maintained and most of the staff are very friendly and helpful (I agree a couple do need lessons in customer service though!!) Ok, the negatives: We arrived after a 12hr journey to be greeted with a list of charges we'd have to pay. Most of it is room tax that isn't the hotel's fault but we had no warning. There was also a 20USD charge per room, per week to use in the pool bar. We had 2 rooms for 2 weeks so this was 80USD. Fortunately the bar has lovely food and drink & we spent well over the 80USD. The Wednesday all you can eat BBQ is a must!! However, when we went to pay, we hadn't charged 40USD to each room (charged it all to 1) so were charged an extra 40USD despite the staff knowing we were all together and had spent well over that. Very unreasonable!! The charges faced at the end were a ridiculous amount. You have to pay for internet. It's 20USD for 1 computer for each week, 15USD for each computer after that if it's charged to the same room.
The housekeepeing staff were brilliant but we only found out when we left that you have to pay for it! Basically, they charge for anything they can, so check everything!!

Some things they don't charge for: Clean beach towels every day (Very useful!) and they will make any reservations for you (Meals, day trips etc.) free of charge.

It would have been perfect if it weren't for the extra charges. They really spoilt it for us. The rest was lovely!

The Screaming Eagle is an amazing restaurant..... we saved it for last night as it's quite expensive, but well worth it!!

“Wonderful vacation on a great island - Our 25th anniversary!”

The La Quinta is a little bit dated, but other than the bed, it was very nice. At the check in, McKeisha was wonderful, and when we told her we were heading to a sunset sailing cruise, she offered us a ride in her car (saving a cab fare). The resort is across the street from the beach. The beach is beautiful, and when we were in the water, the man running the chair booth opened up and set up chairs for us.
There are two pools, one is smaller and fine for a quick dip. The larger pool has the Shon Gecko bar/restaurnt. Don, who runs it, is very nice, and the food is very good. Overall, a worthwhile place to visit. Make sure you rent a jeep and drive to the east side of the island and have fun. The natural pool is well worth the trip, but the road is very steep and rough!!

BTW, the mattrass on our double bed was shot. There was a firm "hump" in the middle, and each side sagged almost to the floor!!
