“Good quality resort with some flaws”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I recently returned form a ten day vacation in Aruba and stayed at the Mill Resort. In my opinion, The Mill is a good choice for reasonable priced accommodation when staying in Aruba.
Pros:
1. Cost - staying here is cheaper then the cost of staying at the high rises.
2. Smaller facility - this facility is a two story facility which I prefer over the high rise / high capacity facilities.
3. Staff - The staff is very friendly and for the most part conversant in English. They also quickly recognized me as a return guest even though it had been 6 years since my last visit.
4. Location - This place is within reasonable walking distance of the beach, shopping, many restaurants and the casinos. For those wanting to go into town, the bus stop is close by for a $1 trip to town.
5. Pool - The pool is well maintained and of reasonable size.
6. General cleanliness - The public areas of the facility are well maintained, though you might need to put on a parka to use the toilet facilities by the main desk (AC on full).

Cons:
1. Rooms - They are currently refurbishing rooms, I was in one not yet worked on, so it was not in great condition. Could only get warm (not hot) water for showers, had to chase staff down a couple times for missing towels and some of the pillows were beat. Another minor annoyance was the location of light switches. Overall this didn't bother me too much as I only spent time in the room to sleep, shower and change before going out. If you plan on spending time in the room, these flaws may bother you more.
2. Restaurant - Good food, but a bit pricey for what you get. The $15 buffet breakfast is over priced for what is available. You can do better with a short walk.
3. Pool - Limited shaded areas around the pool, for those trying to avoid sun-burn / overexposure to sun (like those I was traveling with), it was a race to get to the few shaded areas before others took them.
4. Bills - Be sure to check your bill closely upon checking out. They forgot to apply a $25 credit to our bill and others had bar and restaurant charges they didn't incur on their bill. But the staff was very happy to make any corrections once discrepancies were pointed out.
5. Internet - No free internet, and strange billing cost progression for paid internet: $5 for 1 hour, $10 for 1 day, $30 for 7 days. They also didn't have a place where you could print out boarding documents for your return trip.

Final note, the place does have security, but I would still suggest locking your valuables in the provided safe when you aren't in the room and locking your patio door (if you have one) when you leave the room or go to sleep at night, especially if you are in a first floor room.

Room Tip: Ask if the room you are assigned has been refurbished recently, those are much better then the older...

“Robbed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

It was a while ago that I stayed here, and at the time I wasn't much into writing reviews online. Either way, my wife and I were robbed on our first day when we stayed here. We were put on the first floor, and were in the room. Woke up to find out window open, my wallet and her purse were outside the window, completely emptied. The resorts own security suggested the housekeeping might have done it, but we were never able to prove anything or recover our money or items. The manager was terrible and it took me storming into his office at the end of the week after nothing was done all week. He was able to refund my money for the nights stayed only after arguing with him. Long story short, regardless of the place, I don't know how a resort like this could still be in business.

“Dirty, Disgusting Hostell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The Mill Resort & Spa in palm beach Aruba is the most disgusting hotel that we have ever stayed at. (See Photos). A road side truckers motel is cleaner this this dump. Not sure what some of the other reviewers are saying but this hotel compares to a homeless shelter. The floors are sticky, filthy and stained with black dirt which would make our white socks filthy dirty just by walking on them. The curtains are stained yellow from previous smokers, The bathroom is nasty with mold in the shower with a grubby dirty sink and tub, The light switches were all dirty with dirt and food smears on them. The kitchen includes a dirty little fridge and microwave that looked like they were picked from a local dump. The bed is a joke with the hardest mattress that you will ever sleep on with a headboard that was attempted to be nailed to the wall in order to stay in place but half the nails were sticking out and can easily take out an eye. The sheets and blankets looked pretty scary and I suspect they were donated from goodwill as they had several holes or cigarette burn marks on them. There was animal feces by the poolside that sat there for 4 days without being cleaned up until we saw it floating in the water one day as we walked by. We did not even attempt to swim in any of their pools as we saw a dirty white film on top of the pool water. This place was so nasty that we would get up early in the morning and run from this resort and enjoy beautiful Aruba and would return late night just to sleep here and try not to touch too many items in our room as we were scared that a flea might jump out of somewhere and bite one of us. This is our second time in Aruba in the last six months and with our previous stay at the holiday inn and this dump makes the holiday inn look like the Rits Carlton . Do not get suckered into staying at this dump as they might offer cheaper rates then the other resorts in Aruba but trust me you get what you pay for and unless you want your vacation to feel like you are staying in a homeless shelter then run and run far from this shack. If you do decide to stay in this hostel then I suggest you pack plenty of cleaning supplies. The resort advertises that renovations are complete in November of 2011 which is a total lie as the rooms are old, worn out and disgusting. We feel totally ripped off and if we knew what we were getting for our money we would of never stayed here and would of found alternative accommodations. We will return to Aruba again in the near future but would not even consider The Mill resort hostel even if you paid us.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

“First time here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

For location and price is good, close to the market and restaurants, i booked the room on line not realizing the room I got is an adjoining room to another with just a sliding door seperating the two. It is like not having door there, could hear everything going on next room even a light cough, tv has to be turned right down, The drinks at the bar are very expensive compared to anywhere else, The food is expensive for what you get. i ordered wings one night and thought it would be a good plate, but turned out to be 7 puny wings with some carrot sticks and celery for 10$, what a rip off. Check your bill before you pay, you could be paying 15% tip already.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a non adjoining room

“Inexpensive Possibility With a Great Pool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

The Mill Resorts is a relatively inexpensive, older, non-inclusive resort where you will have to pay more for the extras: internet, lost towels, etc. Located 5-minutes walking to Palm Beach and ~$25 taxi ride from the airport. The pool is very relaxing and beautiful and the bar closes at 10:30.

Pros: Location to Palm Beach, Price, Pool, Cold Room, Family Friendly

Cons: Somewhat dated, no free wireless, scared of losing deposit over nothing

Room Tip: All rooms seem the same and since the resort is smaller, there is little walking around. There is a...
