“It was bearable... barely.”

We actually stayed here the end of April/beginning of May 2009. I was not expecting a fabulous experience given the cost for the room. I was however, expecting basic cleanliness and a slightly better location.
I'll start with location. You must have a car if you are going to stay here. The walk to the beach or stores is just too dangerous without one. There are no sidewalks or real crosswalks. Plus, it'd be quite the trek to the beach on foot, especially if you are carrying towels, a cooler, chairs, etc. That said, Aruba is a relatively small island and you can easily travel to some of the less crowded beaches with a car, which is nice.
The room was an acceptable size, had a comfortable bed and decent bathroom. It just had a feeling of dinginess. The floors were not kept clean, despite the fact that a lot of sand accumulated during our stay. We requested new sheets after a spill, and did not receive any until we asked two more times. The towels they lend you for the beach are stained and worn out. The pool was cloudy and uninviting. We did not end up going in it even once over the week we stayed here.
On a happier note, the staff was friendly and accommodating (aside from the bed sheets incident). They greeted us warmly, answered all of our questions and helped us navigate the island. They provided a steering wheel lock while our car was parked there (this may provide you further information about the location...).
We ended up using our room as a nightly base station, and that was it. This is not a place to relax or hang out during the day. If your needs for accommodations are basic and you want a cheap place to stay, the Arubiana Inn might be fine for you. But it was just a little too grimy for us.

“Clean, cozy, and reasonably priced.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

There are 18 rooms around the pool with the office and a breafast area at one end. Breakfast is available for $9 and you have to tell them the day before if you want it.
The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. It has AC, microwave, small refrigerator and a safe. The one thing lacking in the room was shelf space, especially in the bathroom.
Every room opens to the pool courtyard and has a small table and two chairs. I'd say more than half the guests opted to getting things at the grocery store nearby and eating breakfast and sometimes lunch outside their room. Dunkin Donuts, Subway, and Wendy's aren't to far away ( by car) for take out.
The pool area is just steps away and beautiful, but there are only about 8 lounge chairs. There's room for more if they move the large palm planters onto the stones behind the pool area.
Coffee drinkers note, there's a hot water pot in the room, but no coffee maker. And you can't just buy a cup of coffee, you have to get the whole breakfast.
I would encourage them to make hot beverages available to their guests.
The staff is very friendly and we enjoyed talking to them everyday.
Also, recommend renting a car. It's a good location but it would be a long walk to get to anything.
No free WIFI, but WIFI Aruba is $35 for the week.

“Arubiana Inn - Service Above and Beyond”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2011

My room at the Arubiana Inn was large and pleasant with microwave, frig and hot water pot. The patio, pool and landscaping added to its appeal. But the best part was definitely the helpfulness of Marjan and her staff. They always seemed happy to offer suggestions and help make reservations for excursions. I was sad to leave.

“Nice clean place close to the main hot spots”

I am a bit puzzled by the previous reviewer, who stayed only a couple of weeks there before us, but we liked the place.

We rented two rooms (#10 and #11), one for the teens and one for me and my wife for two nights (Dec. 27-29). If I knew that #11 had an extra bed, I probably would have asked for just that room, because everything in Aruba is expensive during high season, especially during the Christmas week... But price-wise, compared to other options around, Arubiana Inn was very affordable. When I booked I was a bit concerned with reports of smells of raw sewage, but we never felt any of that. The rooms are a bit rustic, perhaps the furniture needs a bit updating, but it was all very clean. The AC is working fine and it's very quiet. In US hotels I have to turn off the AC during the night as I can't sleep because of the noise, but at Arubiana we slept just fine with the AC on. Yes, it was stuffy when we got back to the room at night, but in 10 min the air is perfectly conditioned; it would be such a waste to run the AC on all day long (here I disagree with the other poster). And you can use the 10 min to have a glass of Curacao or another cocktail outside on the tables by your door (light the citronela candles!).

We found the staff very helpful too. We came from Curacao very early and checked in before 10 am. I asked for a late check out and you could do that for a small fee up to 3 pm (my flight back to the US was at 5:40 pm). We were introduced to the staff by name, which we found contributing to the nice atmosphere in the Inn. We asked for a place to taste local food and they recommended The Old Cunucu House. I have to tell you, we had the best oyster soup ever! Ordered 4 local dishes and they were all very tasty. And it all costed a bit less than a diner would in the US. But you have to find the place first!
