“Not what you think!”

I wish I would have read other reviews before staying. The pictures are very decieving. You are not on the beach! The grand suite was what we booked. Planned on staying at least six months. Two weeks later and we are moving to a much nicer part of town with a pool and closer to beaches for half the price. Walls were dirty and not finished being painted. Not as clean as I would have liked it. Air conditioning always shuts off. Cable TV is fuzzy. Internet connection is so week, we constantly had to reboot our computers. No hot water!! We had no view of any ocean. We could look out to the street behind. You are more than 20 yards to the ocean, and the beach that allows swimming, that is in walking distance belongs to a resort that we don't have access to unless you use the towels that the owner has, that resemble the resorts. You are in walking distance to the shops. Thats the only positive we have for staying here. We didn't like having to ask permission to do laundry. I wouldn't feel safe walking the area at night. You do have a locked gate around the rooms though. I would recommend looking for other places to stay. There are great places for great prices. This is not one of them!

“Privacy and Comfort”

We loved our stay at Lechateau because the place has a lot to offer; proximity to the airport, downtown, marina, shops and park to name a few. The idea of being on vacation with the comfort of living at home appeals to us and Lechateua has that to offer. We found our apartment tastefully and comfortably furnished with a full kitchen. And since we do not want to be prisoners of restaurants everytime, this worked for us very well. We felt safe at the place. We walked around from our apartment to downtown, park, shops, clubs and museums. Watching the sunset on the shore every afternoon was very enjoyable. The owner was accommodating and went out of his way to make our stay more comfortable. We'll be back next year.

“Island Living”

Just returned from LeChateau. It was just as expected. Very nice, large apt. very accessable to downtown. Fred is a wonderful proprietor. He lives on the top floor, which is also for rent. Anything we needed, he saw we had it. He even loaned us his Weber grill. Just know it doesn't have a pool or beach access. The beach across the street isn't swimable. If you want beaches, you'll need a car. We had a car for the week so this was no problem. I'm sure this place isn't for a lot of people. This is for you if you want to cook and have space and feel like you actually live on the island. There isn't any daily maid service. I even changed our own sheets but then I don't like having someone in our room every day anyways. Furnishing could use updating but weren't bad. The shower is wonderful.

I booked the LeChateau based on their website and pictures. It is deceiving as it does not really look out to the ocean. I opted to upgrade to the one-bedroom when I arrived as the one room I had rented was in the basement with only a window. The room had obviously been empty for some time as a thin layer of dirt was on all appliances and counters and the floor.

I had a nice balcony but it overlooked the street behind it rather than to the ocean. There was a dog left outside all night right next door, and of course it rained and the dog barked and barked until finally the owner I think let it in for a short time. My sleep was ruined.

The owner is very nice and lives on the top floor, in what I think is advertised as one of the rooms for rent. He told me I could use the Renessance beach before I came so I assumed he had an arrangement with them. Turns out he only has towels that match their's and you cannot go out on the island.

I left after 4 nights and paid him a $200 penalty as it was too isolated for me and I need a beach.

I would recommend to others but be aware there is no beach, its a little pricey for what you get and no maid service. The one bedroom is large and you have a front window so you can leave it open all day
