“Great family vacation!!!”

We booked this resort through our vacation club for one week in june,2011. We had a one bedroom suite with fully equipped kitchen that had everything and anything we needed, pots pans, plates ,utensils....Our building was at the end of the resort, we just had to cross the street to supermarkets, did our shopping and cooked our own meals. Our room was cleaned daily, staff very friendly and helpful, the mattress was worn out and flat, we mentioned it to housekeeping and they brought an extra one right away to make the bed more comfortable.Room had a patio, leading right out to the pool. This resort is great for families or people on the budget. Beach was quiet, water calm and warm, we felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Did note sitting, foul smelling water on the beach, my advice dont walk through it ;) The resort has a shuttle that will take you from one end to the other and anywhere in between, yes sometimes you have to wait for it a while. We rented a car during our stay and drove around the island sightseeing. Also there's a bus right in front that will take you to high rise hotel section. I found this hotel to be very conviniently located for our purposes and had a great and relaxing vacation.

“Nice Place”

Before our trip I read mixed reviews. However, I did email them a few times and they were very responsive to my questions. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite (had booked a studio) since they were out of studio's. There are no elevators and I had requested a top floor, so all worked out well. VERY nice place, updated furniture, appliances, bathroom, etc. The only big negative I found was the mattress was hard from use and needed replacing. They were quick to bring extra firm pillows upon request. Maid service always came in the afternoon when we were out and even did the little bit of dishes we left in the sink. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful, especially the concierge lady. Hertz rental cars are also located in the lobby of the Golf resort (where check in is), but you can walk next door to the Tamajrin as well or use their little golf cart tram. We used the Tam facilities more because it was right next door. No lobby at the Dutch, but that was fine and wasn't needed. Close to the grocery store (10 min walk) and lots of choices of restaurants nearby. Very quiet place even though it was close to the road. Good place for older couples, those who want more privacy and quiet, and families with small kids. If you are looking for "action", go stay in the high rise hotels and pay 3x more as this is in the low rise area. The bus system was very easy, and they ran about every 10-15 minutes and was $1.30 per person one way so very cheap and the stop was right in front of the Divi. Taxi's run $9 for 2 to town or $22 for 2 from/to the airport. The Tam is in front of the Dutch so you have to walk between the buildings (maybe 50 yards total) to get to the beach. Still, easy, close and great sunsens. The tickets for drinks or food at the Tam was a pain though and could use a more improved system. Overall, would I stay here again, most definitely.

“Aruba is the best and Divi makes it affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed at the Divi Dutch Village in Aruba. The Dutch Village is in the older, low-rise section of Aruba. The high-rise section is newer, fancier, crowded, and much more expensive. So Divi is great for us. We had a studio suite with a queen bed, sleeper sofa, chair, dining area, small kitchen, and nice balcony. Dutch Village has three sections. Each with their own pool. You are free to use any of the pools and equipment, plus the pools and equipment across the street at the Divi Golf and Beach Resort. The first two sections are U-shaped with the pool in the middle. They basically have a pool/garden view. The third section, where we stay, has the rooms in a straight line overlooking the pool and have a beach/ocean view. The beach is only a few steps (less than 100) away. But the Tamarijn resort is on the beach. So it blocks most of the view from the lower level. We were on the 3rd level and had a very nice ocean view.
Divi has a number of restaurants and bars on the resorts from simple (Seabreeze) to very extravagent (Windows on Aruba). You can also partake in the all-inclusive Divi Village and Tamarijn bars, restaurants, and pools. However, you need to purchase tickets for meals and drinks at the all-inclusive spots. They don't accept cash.
One of the things we like best about the low rise section of Aruba is affordability and convenience. The Divi units have a complete kitchen with everything for up to 4 people. Plus there are numerous barbeque grills around. The supermarkets are a short walk away. They are out of sight and sound, but easily walkable. We take a roll along bag to carry the stuff back to the room. Drinks and such can be heavy. If you are at the further end of the resort, Divi has carts running continuously that will take you to/from your room. We usually pick up a couple of steaks for the grill, one or two other dinner choices, cereal for breakfast, and snacks like hot dogs for lunch. Then we eat out a couple of times. You can mix and match however your wallet desires.
Divi does try to set up a few games during the week. For the size of the resorts, the games have surprisingly few players. I guess that is just the mind set of the people who stay there. The wilder, drinking, and partier crowd is at the high-rise end. We enjoy the putting contest, don't golf so we don't do the golf contest, Divi day games, Bingo, pool games, darts, and other games.
One last thing, Iquanas are all over the place. They are completely harmless and really cool to watch.

Room Tip: Dutch village has 3 levels and no elevator. Higher floors have a better view. But it means stairs.

“Great place to stay, Close to everything you need!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Every year for the past 10 years my me(25) sister(24) mother and father have been going on trips during Christmas. Aruba and this resort has been one of the best places I've been to, and we have been all over the Caribbean. The hotel is within short walking distance to a huge grocery store, gym and many other stores in the plaza. It is also only about a 15 minute walk to downtown Oranjestad.
The room was very nice it had aseparatee bedroom, which led to a kitchen/family room with a couch bed as well as a walk out balcony. This complex ishugee but if you get a room at the village you do not have to cross a street to get to the beach, but even if you do have to cross its still only a coupleminutee walk.
The beach at the resort was amazing! The water iturquoiseze blue and all sand up to 8 feet id say and then it starts to get a little rocky which was great because that is where all the marine life hangs out. We brought ousnorkelle and fins and saw many cool fish out there. We even saw a sea snake, flounder fish and a small octopus probably 50 feet from the shore. No worries though nothing was close to us while swimming in the sandy beach part.
There is also a beach bar right on the beach owned by the hotel who had great drinks. If you have AI your all set or if ydon'tont have it as we did they just ask for your room number and charge it to that.
We booked an open jeep 4x4 tour with a lady named Madi who was great. She took us to the natural pool (seriously no car could have made that) the natural bridge and a few remote beaches it was a great time and well worth the $50 each. Look her up.
Overall this hotel was great and very clean adefinitelyarecommendomand it. Any questions please feel free to ask!

Room Tip: Request a room on the ocean side so you dont have to cross the small street.

“OK Place to Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

If you are looking for a no frills place to stay, this is the place for you. We were upgraded to a one bedroom condo unit from a studio due to a booking error (perhaps due to the spelling of our last name) and it was just OK. My first concern was upon enetering the unit and I heard the gas stove trying to catch. My husband had to turn the gas off even though the stove itself was not turned on to stop the noise and possible fire. Then we noticed the soap dispenser was leaking over the entire sink and stove area. By now I had my doubts about this place. The unit itself was outdated and was not in the best condition, but OK, certainly not worth the cost. The bedroom had a king sized bed which is very nice, but the bedding was very old. Bed was comfortable but the AC was less than perfect to say the least. We turned it down to 17 degrees and headed to the beach, when we returned housekeeping turned it up to 20. With the size of the unit and the poor working AC the room was very musty and humid. As for the resort, it had a poor setup. Very hard to find towels for the beach...a huge negative! We never knew where one resort ended and another began, as it is near the Tam. Being a frequent traveler to Aruba and stayed at other resorts in the high rise and low rise areas, we would NOT return to this resort.
