Stayed at the Divi Dutch Village in Aruba. The Dutch Village is in the older, low-rise section of Aruba. The high-rise section is newer, fancier, crowded, and much more expensive. So Divi is great for us. We had a studio suite with a queen bed, sleeper sofa, chair, dining area, small kitchen, and nice balcony. Dutch Village has three sections. Each with their own pool. You are free to use any of the pools and equipment, plus the pools and equipment across the street at the Divi Golf and Beach Resort. The first two sections are U-shaped with the pool in the middle. They basically have a pool/garden view. The third section, where we stay, has the rooms in a straight line overlooking the pool and have a beach/ocean view. The beach is only a few steps (less than 100) away. But the Tamarijn resort is on the beach. So it blocks most of the view from the lower level. We were on the 3rd level and had a very nice ocean view.
Divi has a number of restaurants and bars on the resorts from simple (Seabreeze) to very extravagent (Windows on Aruba). You can also partake in the all-inclusive Divi Village and Tamarijn bars, restaurants, and pools. However, you need to purchase tickets for meals and drinks at the all-inclusive spots. They don't accept cash.
One of the things we like best about the low rise section of Aruba is affordability and convenience. The Divi units have a complete kitchen with everything for up to 4 people. Plus there are numerous barbeque grills around. The supermarkets are a short walk away. They are out of sight and sound, but easily walkable. We take a roll along bag to carry the stuff back to the room. Drinks and such can be heavy. If you are at the further end of the resort, Divi has carts running continuously that will take you to/from your room. We usually pick up a couple of steaks for the grill, one or two other dinner choices, cereal for breakfast, and snacks like hot dogs for lunch. Then we eat out a couple of times. You can mix and match however your wallet desires.
Divi does try to set up a few games during the week. For the size of the resorts, the games have surprisingly few players. I guess that is just the mind set of the people who stay there. The wilder, drinking, and partier crowd is at the high-rise end. We enjoy the putting contest, don't golf so we don't do the golf contest, Divi day games, Bingo, pool games, darts, and other games.
One last thing, Iquanas are all over the place. They are completely harmless and really cool to watch.
Room Tip: Dutch village has 3 levels and no elevator. Higher floors have a better view. But it means stairs.
