“Another great Aruba visit”

this is our second trip to Aruba. Last year we stayed at the Tamarjin and had a great time, this year we stayed at the Divi. We love the facility and like to be able to bounce around the 3 properties (the shuttles are hard to catch they do need to improve that). The rooms at the Divi are more updated and we love the food and service at the Divi. The staff is very friendly and more than willing to help. The beach is absolutely beautiful and lots of room so you are not on top of all the other guests. We love the outdoor fresh air at the restaurants, the Red Parrot is our favorite but are all good. To eat at the restaurants you need to make reservations in advance and if you have a large group (we had 8) we had to be there when the reservationist opened. There are a lot of activities by the pool for kids but we prefer to stay on the beach. There were no activities on the beach so you were not bothered by anyone. While we were there we did the ATV tour of the island and had a great time. I don't recommend the ATV tour for anyone pregnant, with young children or with back problems as the "roads" are anything but smooth. We love the Divi resorts and will be going back!

Room Tip: We were in the garden view rooms in the 3 story building and we did have a distant view of the ocean...

“'Amazing Honeymoon'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at the divi for 2 weeks in August 2011 for our Honeymoon. I can only speak from our experience but to say we enjoyed every second of it was an understatement.

Before we travelled I probably read every review on this site and was a little concerned at some of the negative ones. Once we arrived I realised I that I had no reason to worry - I just needed to relax on the little bit of paradise that is the Divi! The reviews that mention the bathrooms do have a point, they are a little tired but they were cleaned spotlessley everyday (along with the rest of the room) and how much time do you spend in a bathroom on holiday anyway??!! The rooms were spacious, had comfy beds and all within about 10 yards of the beach.

We found the majority of staff to be very friendly and helpful, there were a couple of times - mainly at the bar, when the bar staff did seem to be a little curt with people. We found this to be mainly to do with the fact certain guests were not able to use the words 'please' or 'thank you' or indeed have any manners at all. Overall we found the food and drinks to be very good quality and always in plentifull supply!

The beach is amazing! absolutely massive and seems to be desserted most of the time. I did find myself getting up earlier and earlier as time went on to secure some beds under the shade, but this was mainly due to wanting the ones right outside our room!
During our stay we were fortunate enough to witness two batches of turtles hatching on the beach and swimming off to the sea. The 2nd lot was on our very last evening so a great way to round off a fabulous time!

A quick word on the trips - while the one to de palm island is a must if you have any interest in snorkling, the majority of the others can be done by yourself with a $30 a day hire car. We hired a car and visting a few of the beaches, lighthouse, windmill and did an afternoon at baby beach (again a must if you enjoy snorkling)

All in all I think it boils down to what you want from a holiday - if you want 5* luxury rooms and all staff dressed in tuxedos waiting on you hand and foot - go somewhere else and pay twice the price. If you want a hotel right on a stunning beach, with good sized clean rooms, good food and drink whenever you want it and to be able to chill out completely - then do not hesitate and book the divi now!
We had a great time, made some fantastic friends and have some brilliant memories from such a wonderful holiday!

“My Type of Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed at the Divi last March (family of 4 with children ages 10 &8) and we loved it! We have been to the larger and newer resorts in Mexico and Jamaica, but we much prefer the real Caribbean flavour of the Divi. I find the other resorts too big, too impersonal and made for the masses.
The Divi has more character and charm and service- not to mention a fabulous beach!

Yes, the Divi rooms are smaller as is the pool, but really I wonder how clean those giant pools can ever be and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool was big enough for my guys and they love to swim. It is also a very beutiful setting around the pool. Not to mention the pizza and great sandwiches served at the outdoor pizza oven/bar just steps away - a favourite for lunch. I love that the beach is also just steps away from the pool area - and what a beach it is!

The breakfast buffet was more than adequate. We only ate at the buffet one night as the restaurants were so much better (I have never liked the buffets anywhere so this is not a point against the Divi). We loved the outdoor airy feel of the restaurant at the Divi the best, but also enjoyed the others at the Tamarjin. As with most kids, mine don't like to wait around in restaurants and we never had to. With the open air restaurant we were so close to the beach they got to play in the sand while my husband and I enjoyed a final glass of wine. Everyone enjoyed the shows at night - just enough fun for us without going on too long or getting to be too much (not a party resort).

They didn't over do it with the daily activies (meaning not in your face and loud around the pool), but things were going on if you wanted to find something. Personaly, I like this low key approach better.

One of our favourite days was renting a jeep and touring the island on our own - very easy and safe. Be prepared that on the other side of the island there really aren't any roads and you drive for quite a bit without seeing another soul. We gave our 10 year old his first driving lesson! Lots to enjoy and discover along the way.

I would definately return to the Divi. If you like new and glitzy and more emphasis on drinking and partying this is not the place for you. If you like a beautiful beach, a low key vacation and a simple atmosphere this is the destination.

“August 2010 Fights back!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Just read a review written by someone who went to this hotel in August 2010 and were less than complimentary!! I felt that I had to respond. We also went in August 2010 and thought it was absolutely wonderful!!
I cannot fault this hotel from the food to the breath taking sunsets and the lovely walks along a vast expanse of white sand, fringed with cristal green sea and blue skies - to the 2 naughty little parrots by the pool!!
The staff were great fun and helpful and we loved the entertainment which gave us an insight into the culture of the island. we met some really lovely people, including Americans, Canadians and some fab English and Irish too!! (I am Welsh)
My two girls had a ball - aged 14 and 16 at the time-and wondered around in a gang with lots of teenagers from all over the place. They learned to wind surf and also did water skiing and other activities.
If there are any birthdays - Senor Frogs in the low rise area is such fun. They stuck a custard pie in my daughters face as she celebrated her 16th birthday and all the kitchen staff came out banging saucepans and singing! What a hoot!
Before I sign off, I must mention the wine! Chilean and ice cold - what more can you ask for at the end of a hard day in the never ending sunshine with a refreshing cool breeze!
The Divi Aruba - I would go back tomorrow!!

“We loved Aruba!!”

My husband and I stayed at the Divi in Jan of this year. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! We really enjoyed this hotel. It’s connected to the Tamarjin so you are able to use the facilities over there as well. The shuttle that takes you there was good but sometimes at night took quite a while for a pick up. The food was very good. We really enjoyed The Red Parrot one and the Italian one Paparazzi was good too. Careful with the Asian one called Ginger, it’s very pretty inside but the next day we weren’t feeling too good. They have a great variety of drinks at the bar too which was nice. They have a pizza and sandwich bar that’s open till 1am that was really good. We had a patio room that had a hammock in the back which was so relaxing and the beach was right there, the view was amazing! The pool area was beautiful; we heard it was renovated not too long ago. There were always chairs available and also on the beach too. We recommend doing the catamaran snorkling tour it was alot of fun!!... Make sure to ask for Randolf at the bar he makes the best drinks and was a great guy to chat with! Aruba is absolutely beautiful; the white beach with the turquoise water was stunning. We would definitely return to Aruba and back to the Divi too!
