“Great stay at Paradise Beach Villas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2011

We just returned from two weeks at Paradise Beach Villas. After reading the mixed reviews, I didn't have high expectations. I found the unit looked exactly like the pictures. We booked through VPL vacations, and had to change rooms the second week. The first week we were in a one bedroom, facing the parking lot. The only thing I was disappointed in was the view. The unit was very clean and the furniture was in good condition. The second week we were moved to a two bedroom unit. This unit had two good size bathrooms and a king sized bed, but it also had a view of the parking lot. We had no trouble adjusting the air conditioning, as others have mentioned. The grounds and pool area are very well kept. They were painting and sprucing up the lobby area when we were there. They are also planning to replace the carpet in the hallways soon.
The beach is directly across the street, and is a very easy walk. Sometimes traffic will stop for pedestrians, but not usually. This section of Eagle Beach is beautiful. Be prepared to get up early if you want a palapa. They are usually all taken by 6:00am. My only complaint is that this is a very busy area. There is a parking area right at the beach, and bus loads of people were continuously dropped off there. Not realizing that the chairs belong to the resort, they helped themselves to the chairs and palapas, sometimes even if you had your towel and things around them. One day there were five cruise ships in town, and this was a non stop issue all day. There is someone assigned to monitor the chair situation, but he also maintains the pool, and would just walk through the beach area occasionally. Usually a resort guest would get fed up and go tell security that help was needed at the beach, and then he would come back and inform the people not staying at the resort that they couldn't use the chairs. There were times when resort guests couldn't find any available chairs. Also, the local young people gather there on the weekends, sometimes taking over the palapas and getting very rowdy. There are also parties there over night, often lasting almost all night. We couldn't hear the noise from the resort, but I did get tired of cleaning up cigarette butts around the palapa daily.
Overall, we really liked the resort but the beach situation became a hassle. We talked to people who stay there every year and were told that this has never been a problem before. I will probably stay there again. The resort is nice and well maintained, but I hope they get the beach issues worked out.

“Horrible disappointment. Studio suite should be turned into a storage room!!!!!!”

We looked forward to staying at the PBV because of all the positive reviews and we were looking forward to a relaxing vacation.
The positive reviews had to be from people who stayed in the" real hotel"and had 1 & 2 bedroom suites because there is no way anyone could possibly be happy w/ that hovel of a room the PBV calls their "studio" It had no resemblence to the rest of the hotel.
The hallways were dark and dingy with stained carpeting.
It was a dark, dingy, hole of a room, NO PRIVATE balcony, and a tiny window that opened up to breezeway that we couldn't keep open because people would walk in front of it. There was barely room to walk around the bed which was very small and uncomfortable. I don't know anyone who sleeps 2 people on those anymore. The caulk was coming out of the obsolete pink tiled bathroom. tub which was about 28" high and very hard to get in and out of . We were awakened every morning after a horrible night's sleep, at 6 a.m by the person next to us, leaving their room and the automatic door slamming which echoed throughout the whole floor. There's a 2" space under the door of the lockout room where light and noise comes through. Their list of amenities consisted of a wake up call. There was no free wifi internet access, like most resorts offer, which would cost them nothing to let guests use their own laptops in the lobby. There was no music at the pool. After dusk the place was a ghost town with no entertainment.

We went to the front desk and they were no help, they wanted another $1000.00 dollars to "upgrade us" to a 2 bedroom (why didn't they give that to us to begin w/ when that is what we own at another Interval location. I would never go to this place again , front desk did nothing about my complaints didnt offer anything at all., wouldnt change my room ,terribly managed place.

“Definitely Would Go Back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2011

Stayed in a two bedroom facing the ocean. Had two balconies - one off the master bedroom and one off the living area. Very spacious master bedroom. Staff was VERY friendly and efficient. The refrigerator was not cold enough so we called down and they fixed it within an hour.
The room was cleaned lightly every day and towels were exchanged if you left them on the floor. Every guest was given a beach towel and can exchange for a clean one daily.

Like all resorts you have to save a chair at the pool or beach early in the morning to get a spot. They could use a few more chairs in the pool area. There are nice tiki huts on the beach.

The bar could have had an additional bartender as it took a while to get drinks especially during happy hour. Breakfast was very good but we did not eat any other meals there.

“Great relaxingVacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2011

We had a great time at Paradise Beach Villas it is located by one of the worlds best beaches. It is clean, quiet, and easily accessable. We were unfortunatly in a garden view room 1st floor, Little garden area and then park area.. But spent little time in room and enjoyed evenings at the pool area. Great location easy and economial bus transportation. We went on ABC jeep tour, pickup at hotel and a fun time. Highly recomend passions on the beach restaurant, also Tulips and Mathews all within walking distance. Many more resturants to be visited. Only downside was the people that towel reserved cabana/chairs on the beach and were not there
