Paradise Beach Villas is an older timeshare, but is located on Eagle Beach. We were in Unit 304, which was in the phase 1 building - if you have room xx0 - x14, it means you have 'garden view' and you are facing the parking lot! Your room location will definitely determine how you feel about this resort - everyone who goes to the beach would prefer an ocean view room. :-/ The staff did a good job of keeping the unit clean. The furnishings are a bit dated and could use updating. The beds were hard and short (if you are 6' or taller, your feet will hang off the end of the 'queen' bed / sleep sofa). The hallways have a dark brown carpet which make the place look drab. The elevator is small, quirky and has royal blue panels and lights (retro 70's disco theme???); very interesting.
The 'draw' is the beach which is right across the street and is BEAUTIFUL. Some of the palapas were under construction (and more are needed). Someone from the hotel will set up palapas, find shade for you and set up your beach chairs.
Public buses are easy to catch ($2.30 US round trip; make sure to ask for a return trip voucher) and go to most places. Getting supplies is easy - To get to the super markets, cross the street from the resort and take the bus to the 5th/6th bus stop heading back towards the airport (they will be on the left side of the road). Only rent a car on the days you want to explore the island (Aruba Car Rental will deliver the rental to you at PBV). Directions to attractions are scant/open to interpretation, but everyone on the island was friendly and helpful; willing to provide directions if asked.
We visited the ostrich farm, 'fort' ruins, and natural bridge (it was a bit of a disappointment, due to the pollution/trash in the water).
Hint: Take advantage of Duty Free on your way TO Aruba.
We ate lunch at Delifrance (near the supermarkets 3.5 out of 5 - good place for lunch and a beer). We dined at Tulip (4 out of 5 - nice atmosphere; good food and fixed price menu nightly), Carambola (4.6 out of 5 - recently renovated; don't let the outside 'look' (from the parking lot of PBV) fool you; great food and service), Chalet Suisse (3.8 out of 5 - went on Thanksgiving, so may not have been a good night to assess; good food; lobster a little overcooked/chewy).
We will definitely go back to Aruba.
