“A quiet paradise”

Antigua is a beautiful and peaceful place and to me Galley Bay Cottages is the only lodging facility that blends perfectly with the island's graciously laid-back spirit. The cottages are grouped along a quiet road, cleverly spaced along a gorgeous main path that provides extra charm and privacy to the place. Walk five minutes down the hill and you'll stand on Galley Bay's beautiful beach, instantly realizing why so many fashion photoshoots happen there. Now back to the cottages! Breeze is definitely my favorite. Being the foremost location it has a broad view of the ocean, and plenty of space to have dinner outside while the sun sets. It's also very private so it's perfect for a romantic getaway! The interior is spacious, comfortable and decorated with a tasteful simplicity that makes you feel at home in no time. I doubt any of the island's full-fenced villas provide such an experience, at such a reasonable price. To top it off, friendly owner Natalie and her staff discreetely took care of the basics while providing tips that made us discover wonderful, uncrowded corners of the island. Ah! writing this makes me want to go back!

“Galley Bay Cottages are a little bit of paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

Our first experience at Galley Bay Cottages was so pleasant we have returned for 12 years. The cottages are nestled into a hillside overlooking a beautiful beach with a private little cove at one end. During our 12 years we have stayed in all 4 cottages at various times and enjoyed all of them for different reasons. When family comes to join us we have occupied 3 out of the 4 cottages which are connected with pathways. They are clean and decorated beautifully with the perfect mix of old and new and a real carribean feeling. We like this particular area because of its close proximity to St. Johns and good resturants. If we choose to stay in, we dine outside on a deck with a spectacular view. The kitchen is fully equipped. The proprietors are lovely and couldnt be more helpful and accomodating in every way. We think of it as our home away from home.

“Vacation to Paradise”

After visiting the entire island, we came to the conclusion we countn't have found a better spot to stay on the island @ Galley Bay Cottages! Located in a small and quiet bay, the cottages are overlooking the ocean where you can have an amazing view of the sunset. We tried Spice and Sea Breeze cottages and they are both very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having our own kitchen and cooking nice meals to enjoy on the candellight balcony. We were welcome by Nathalie, Peter and Ella as if we were part of the family and we wouldnt change anything to our trip.

A few recommendations about the island:
-rent a car with Titi rent a car , it is beautiful to ride along the cost line.
(we had a little accident and they were very proffesional in changing our car rapidely and with no cost)
- to wind surf go see Patrick at wind surf antigua. It a lot of fun!
- go in town and enjoy a delicious meal at Pork Men Jeff!
Enjoy the island...the locals are extremely friendly!!!

“HAPPY TO RETURN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

I always love to return to Natalies' cottages as she makes me feel its my home away from home and it is for me. Tucked away in bushy gardens and yet with open view of the open sea is special, I like the charming rustic cottages and surroundings....the peace and quiet and I love that I can just pop down to the beach for a dip.
It is worth renting a car or 4x4 as it is remote and the roads can get rough after rains.
Self-catering is not a problem for me, I just pop in to a local supermarket or and stock up on essentials, once I get there its hard to leave!

“Absolutey Charming and Relaxing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

We stayed in the Breeze Cottage and loved it. During the evenings we dined and/or just sat outside enjoying the quiet, peaceful, relaxing admosphere. Luckily, unlike major resorts the lighting outside is not too bright thus attracting bugs. I just read in the most recent review that the lights were not working and they had to use candles. The lights were more than adequate, and in fact romantic. It is a very short walk to the beach where we found our ourselves a quiet area, brought our picnic lunch, books and just relaxed for the entire day. You can walk the beach and visit the more populated area but we justed wanted to spend time alone. We did make it into St, John's and English Harbor and of course Shirley Heights. If you are looking to become relaxed and refreshed from a busy life filled with telephone calls, emails, computers, distractions, I truly recommend Galley Bay Cottages. Thank you so much Natalie and Peter - your place was a godsend! Looking forward to coming back next year.
