“We had an awesome time at the Coconut Beach Club!!!”

So... where was this so called massive swarm of Mosquitos!!??? What Mosquitos?? I did not receive one bite the whole entire time, and I barely used bug spray... You people had me so scared. People love to exagerate and magnify the worst of every situation.
The Coconut Beach Club was perfect for us. It was in a beautiful private location right on a beautiful beach. All the hotel rooms had a beach view and you could literally throw a rock from you balcony right into the ocean.
No it is not a brand new fancy five star resort, and they never claimed to be. They provide afordable accomodations. The rooms are basic, yet nice and clean. If you need a newly remodeled room then go pay the extra thousand dollars a night and go to one of the many expensive 5 star resorts on the island.
The food was good for the most part, yet sometimes just OK. Either way it was a non issue for us. It was like a home cooked meal.
Our balcony had a hammock that was sooo relaxing, with birds jumping on the hammock while we slept in it. Sometimes birds flew into our room and then back out the door. So cool!!!
The staff was extremely friendly and helpfull. Everyone, and I do mean everyone was nice to us. No attitudes at all.
If you go to Antigua make sure you go on the Treasure island catamaran tour. They take you sailing on a tour around the island, snokeling, and a beach barbeque. The best thing we did on the trip!! The best way for me to describe Coconut Beach club - Its more like having your own condo on the beach as oposed to a touristy resort enviornment.

Room Tip: The bottom floor room give you direct access to the beach right out you back door, however I prefer...

“Antiguan Paradise”

OK, this isn't a five star but isn't advertised as such. The bathrooms need refurbishment and the kitchens in the suites are tired and now surplus to requirement. I'm also not sure about the raised infinity pool. But manager Nicole knows this and is keen to get feedback from guests about prioritising upgrades. Everything else at Coconut Beach was clean, comfortable, spacious and welcoming. The staff are all superb and nothing is too much trouble. The beach location is spectacular and you can almost touch the cruise ships as they sail into and out of St John's. If you don't like the small amount of surf at Coconut Beach, it's just a 10 minute walk down quiet lanes to Deep Bay, which gets barely a ripple. Of course, you then forfeit the free bar for a few hours! Food is excellent with a choice of breakfasts, ample buffet lunch and usually a choice of four starters and main courses for dinner with afternoon tea for good measure. Can't agree with a recent reviewer who said the (usually) Chilean house white was disgusting. I found it crisp and refreshing after a day in the sun, it was the red that needed a health warning! An insect repellent containing deet is a must, especially early morning and around dusk on the balcony or verandah. We didn't get bitten but fellow guests were attacked by the sand fleas, though we did see the beaches and adjoining grassy areas sprayed on several occasions. If you can book a round-the-tour on the catamaran Excellence, you won't be disappointed and a Thursday evening stroll with The Medicine Man is a great way to spend an hour. We'd have no qualms about going back to the Coconut Beach.

Room Tip: First and second floor rooms put you that little further away from the sand fleas

“Totally relaxing break”

From the moment we arrivd the service was the best we had ever experienced in the Carribean. We had a suite which was huge and clean. The only downside was the bathroom which could do with a refurb. The food in the restaurant was excellent with a good choice available. Bar drinks were great but the white wine was disgusting even my husband couldn't drink it! As for the sand flies we didn't have any bites although we met someone who was quite bitten. We did use a spray that contained deet.

Room Tip: They all have balconies that face the beach so are all nice.

“Just the holiday we needed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We returned from Coconut Beach Club on 25th January, after having a perfect 2 weeks' holiday! Our accommodation was excellent - the kitchen and bathroom fitted cupboards needed updating, but we could live with that .The water pressure and the shower were great, as was all the furniture in our room, and on the verandah. We stayed on the ground floor, and to have the sea no more than 5 or 6 yards away through the patio doors was lovely. We found the food beautifully cooked, and the chef at dinner cooked brilliant meals - it was lovely to be pampered with waiter service each evening, and to get top class meals. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and lunch, and the restaurant staff and bar staff were always very willing and friendly. We didn't like the pool much - to have to climb up into it and then down into the pool was not great with no hand rail, especially for oldies like us - and we felt that if it had been on ground level more people would have sat around it and used it, although we appreciate that there was very little room around it to make a feature of it! It was always beautifully clean, as was the beach, which was cleaned early every morning. The maid service was excellent, and the room was always beautifully clean, but quite often we had to wait for replacement towels - also the beach towels were not always available, but that could be easily remedied by buying a few extra!!! Everything about this hotel was excellent - we wanted peace and quiet, with no children around, and that was exactly what we got. Coming home was always going to be a problem!!! We would have no hesitation about going back to Coconut Beach Club again.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea, but the ground floor ones open to only 5 or 6 yards from the beach

“Top of the class resort”

We have spent 9 days there recently. An all inclusive resort has not been our first choise but this resort has proved that it was right. They have found the right proportion of service / quality level.
The emploies have been friendly and service minded but you always could conversate and having a normal contact wiht them. I have learnt quite much about what it is like to live in Antigua,I was given good tips what to do and see there. Good definition for a nice vacation for me.
The resort is quite small, that is never crowded. Good places to relax, swimming, playing tennis, diving.
Hope you make a try and have the same experiences!
