Ku Hotel was recommended to me by my travel agency, and a few friends who had stayed in years past. True, it is on Shoal Bay, right on the water, but that is it's only good quality.
We paid for the best room they had - a beachfront suite. The glass doors that led to the beach didn't close and lock. The front door didn't have a dead bolt or a chain, only a metal key to the doorknob which was loose. The internet wasn't working, so the $8 cable we rented did nothing for us. The bathroom smelled like something had died in the walls. But most of all - there was NO HOT WATER. When we called to complain we were told the handy man had gone home for the evening, and a security guard was sent over. He couldn't figure out why the hot water wasn't working. I suppose we should have run at this point, but it was already 9pm and we were tired. We piled chairs in front of the doors and slept with a blunt object next to the bed, just in case.
The next morning when we asked for a refund, we were told to wait an hour for the manager, Peter Billington to arrive. He never did, but in the mean time the handy man returned and said the hot water was working, we just had to let it run for longer. Funny - the security man tried this the previous evening, and it didn't work.... Maybe someone forgot to turn on the boiler before leaving work?
We waited for the manager who never arrived. After two emails and three phone calls to Mr. Billington I gave up trying to get even a partial refund for a frustrating, wasted vacation night.
Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. It is not worth the money or the frustration.
