“Don't stay at this mismanaged, crumbling hotel.”

Ku Hotel was recommended to me by my travel agency, and a few friends who had stayed in years past. True, it is on Shoal Bay, right on the water, but that is it's only good quality.

We paid for the best room they had - a beachfront suite. The glass doors that led to the beach didn't close and lock. The front door didn't have a dead bolt or a chain, only a metal key to the doorknob which was loose. The internet wasn't working, so the $8 cable we rented did nothing for us. The bathroom smelled like something had died in the walls. But most of all - there was NO HOT WATER. When we called to complain we were told the handy man had gone home for the evening, and a security guard was sent over. He couldn't figure out why the hot water wasn't working. I suppose we should have run at this point, but it was already 9pm and we were tired. We piled chairs in front of the doors and slept with a blunt object next to the bed, just in case.

The next morning when we asked for a refund, we were told to wait an hour for the manager, Peter Billington to arrive. He never did, but in the mean time the handy man returned and said the hot water was working, we just had to let it run for longer. Funny - the security man tried this the previous evening, and it didn't work.... Maybe someone forgot to turn on the boiler before leaving work?

We waited for the manager who never arrived. After two emails and three phone calls to Mr. Billington I gave up trying to get even a partial refund for a frustrating, wasted vacation night.

Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. It is not worth the money or the frustration.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms! And no amount of money will get you anything better.

“A different experience this time.”

Returned to Ku after having been there several years ago when it was just rennovated and the name had changed. Back then there was a real effort to make it a 5 star property and luxurious. Well I think the problem is that there are so many real luxury hotels this property has lost it's way and would be better served being a good and afforable hotel which it is not. The prices have increased and when you add the almost 20% room tax it is too expensive for what your getting. The room was average nothing special, service was average and so was the food. The gem of this property is it's location on Shoal Bay which is magnificent one of the top 10 beaches in the world if you ask me. However, there are really no other amenities, the pool is small and with that ocean at your feet are you really going to use the pool? The hotel service is ok nothing spectacular. I do not think my expectations are unreasonable however the problem is that Ku in my opinion is not offering a good value for the price. I have friends who have stayed at the Cruisinart and St. Regis and said the service was phenomenal and so are the prices. Ku and I am saying this from the heart you need to get your act together seriously are you will be changing names and owners again soon.

“Wish we could rate The Ku Hote "-5 stars"”

Our stay at the Ku hotel from 11/27-12/1/2011 was pretty bad. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. My husband and I do not get to vacation often, I really wish we could have spent our money elsewhere. When we booked the Ku hotel it was required we pay for it entirely up front, so unfortunately once we got there we pretty much couldn't leave. We had visited the Ku on a day trip to Anguilla in 2008 while staying in St. Martin--at that time we were so impressed with the lovely grounds and sweet staff that I thought it would be no problem to pay the entire amount up front. I was wrong and my advice to you is: Don't do it! Don't stay at the KU! I read some mixed reviews on travel zoo and still went ahead and did it, and how I wish I hadn't!

Spend the extra money on a nicer, newer hotel. The Ku stank, literally! The hotel accommodations were extremely run down, dirty bathrooms and smelly bedding, no screens on the windows, roof leaked and there was a bat living in the ceiling that woke us up every night, it was pretty awful. Read the other negative reviews and trust them! The food at the "restaurant" was less than mediocre, service was the same and ambiance was more like eating at a park bench--which honestly I would prefer that because it wouldn't cost as much and would taste better if I made it! I wrote a complaint to the general manager after my vacation disaster was finally over only to get a response telling me that all of my experiences were not true. We are not super wealthy and not fancy fancy...The Ku is less than shabby.

Anguilla however, is beautiful and has the most beautiful beaches! I would rather camp on them however than ever return to the Ku.

Room Tip: just don't go

“Wonderful beach, hotel is seriously lacking”

My wife and I have only stayed at Cuisinart and love that side of the island. We decided to give Ku a try and use it as a base for checking out many of the beaches on this side of the island-and of course take advantage of Shoal Bay East. With low expectations we were disappointed with the property. The one thing going for it was the proximity to good beach bars and restaurants but otherwise it is not a place we'd go back to. The beach bar at the hotel did have low prices for drinks and was conveniently located. For food the restaurant had terrible service and mediocre food. We were pleased that Madeariman was so close because they had good food and great service at both lunch and multiple dinner seatings. As you can tell the resort was a disappointment so we spent time looking elsewhere to spend our days.

It is worth noting that while we were at Ku the island experienced heavy rain fall over the course of three days and our room was leaking in a half dozen places and did not have any help sent to check on damage. My review does not take this into account though the response, or lack thereof, from management was something worth taking into consideration.

Room Tip: In the event of rain, the roof leaked in our room in many places. It could've just been our roo...

Stayed at KU November 12th -19th and had a wonderful time. Our second visit and will be returning again next year. Service was very good, very polite and accomodating and the view from the balcony surely one of the best in the world. Grocery store not open but no problem since Best Buy store is only a 10 minute drive from the Hotel.
Discovered a wonderful new restaurant called "On Da Rocks" give it a try !
