I've stayed at the Sydans both times during my 2 trips to Anguilla and am thinking about going back in the new year. I will give Anne Edwards a call or email to check availability at the Sydans. I was last there February 2009. Although the suite I had was a bit run down overall it served me well. I really enjoy the small balcony overlooking the salt pond and the fact that I can cook my own meals in the suite. And, if you go downstairs to the inhouse store early enough you will be able to buy very good baguette. It's great being in Sandy Ground and staying at Anne's establishment. She and her daughter work very hard. If you need a taxi, rental vehicle or have any questions, just ask Anne.

It's cheap - feels cheap.
It's a dump - but the rooms are huge.
It's dirty - but close to a beach, bars and lots of free parking.
The doors and windows don't really lock - but it seems safe
Has free wireless - very slow
When you return home you will wash everything - including your suitcase.
You will totally forget about how bad it is when you visit Meads Bay or Shoal Bay

We had a great experience here. There is no air conditioner but it wasn't necessary during our trip. The location was great, there were food options around us. I was pleasantly surprised by daily maid service. I truly didn't expect daily maid service included in such a low price.

There was only 1 problem - we weren't guaranteed the room we were initially promised, but we were promptly given a nice discount to redeem the situation.

Anne Edwards is not your normal Anguillian. She has no sense of honesty or friendliness. My wife and I went to Anguilla for our honeymoon. Our expectations were very real and I learned all I could about the Island.

Everything went smooth until we showed up (with a reservation) to find we had no place to sleep. She didn't save me a room! New island, new wife, new problem. Anne Edwards only question was "What do you want with me?". Excuse me, but a roof over my head for the next two weeks would be nice.

I was astounded by the lack of responsibility she had for the situation. I had even called two weeks prior to the trip. Yes, she had a room. Yes, she still had my information.

Stranded, she wouldn't even help to find another place for us. Making a few calls were too much for her to cope with late in the afternoon. We were on our own.

I have Lloyd's Bed and Breakfast to thank for saving me that first night. They were everything true Anguillian hospitality has to offer. Recommend them any day of the week.

Go to Anguilla, visit Sandy Ground and avoid Sydans.
