While sitting at Sam's beachfront bar, which happens to be the BEST beachfront bar in the Caribbean with the BEST bartender on the planet, I'm thinking about how to explain this place in a short Trip Advisor review. IMPOSSIBLE! We're sipping one of Sam's special concoctions, being entertained by the man himself, while eating a salad of hyponic greens, grown on the property in Cuisinart’s hyponic greenhouse, topped with freshly grilled lobster, prepared a few feet away on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We're eating light today because Chef Daniel Le Guenan prepared our group of four a spectacular, four-course lunch yesterday, consisting of amazingly original preparations of scallops, lobster, caviar, fresh hyponic veggies, raspberry mousse with fresh mint and frozen lemon grass cubes, and other delicacies, served on the penthouse terrace overlooking Rendezvous Bay. Crazy!
Sam, like everyone else on the Cuisinart staff, takes direction from General Manager Stephane Zaharia, and Director of Food and Beverage Fabio Petrone, who are constantly interacting with guests and staff to oversee every aspect of the operation of this magnificent resort. The staff is well trained and friendly, giving the impression that guests are welcome and appreciated. Service is excellent in every aspect.
It is obvious that Cuisinart continues to make substantial investments in the property to enhance the guest experience. They purchased the adjacent Temenos Golf Course, which is now Cuisinart Golf, have created two new restaurants - Italia at the golf course, and Tokyo Bay on the top floor of the beautiful Spa building - and are currently refurnishing all guest rooms. The grounds are well maintained and lush, with a variety of tropical greenery and flowers. The pools are clean and well maintained. The beach is perfect and the beach staff is friendly and accommodating. A special treat of fresh sorbet and biscotti is served by the staff to all beach and pool guests at 4PM each day.
We have visited most of the restaurants on the Island and enjoyed many, especially Tasty's (local Chef Dale Carty prepares excellent local dishes), and Mango's on Barnes Bay. However, we have come to the conclusion that the food and wine cellar at Cuisinart are superior to most. Considering that Chef Daniel will prepare your own gourmet lunch or dinner upon request, and the ingredients available to him are truly the freshest on earth, this is pure gastronomic heaven. Even the best restaurants in Anguilla can't come close to Chef Daniel's creations which I would stack up with the best restaurant fare in NYC including the likes of Per Se, Daniel, and Le Bernardin. If you like to eat, this is the place for you.
If you are looking for tranquility with class, visit Anguilla and stay at Cuisinart. I repeat my comment from our last trip in April, 2011 - Cuisinart is still the BEST OF THE BEST.
