I had read about Laset in Lonely Planet, but we were not originally planning to visit the Savsat area. I am glad that we made a spontaneous side-trip to visit Karagol Sahara National Park which included a stay at Laset. Other reviewers have described the rustic but clean and attractive nature of the facility, and the excellent restaurant. I will only add that we even saw a White-throated Dipper (aquatic bird) while we were eating on the terrace, and the whole area seemed fresh and green, almost like a warm version of what I would expect of European mountains. Prospective visitors should be aware that the road down from the pass (for those coming from Ardahan) is very exciting, to say the least, and that the side-road to Karagol Sahara is beautiful, but long, steep, and winding in places. Overall, we would have happily spent a couple more days in the area and hope to go back someday!
