“Perfect views, perfect peace”

Just returned (literally!) from Beyaz Yunus and looking at the other reviews, guess ours is superfluous, but just had to add our bit to encourage others to share what is a truly wonderful experience. We went with friends, but also found more there in the very few guests (only six rooms), and amongst the delightful staff, particularly Can and Ahmed, whose gentle charm belied stunning efficiency and a desire to do just anything, however small, to make our holiday complete. (e.g. my favourite Turkish tipple, absent for some reason from these islands of ours, of cherry juice, was specially bought in for me).
The hotel consists of a group of 'cabins' surrounded by cooling foliage and looking over the garden towards the sea; accommodation is fairly basic, we suppose, if you were expecting huge luxury, but we weren't, and the large comfortable bed and highly effective shower made the room just fine for us. The only drawbacks are a lack of storage space in the form of drawers, and rather low lighting in parts of the room, so we mislaid things quite a lot through leaving them around; bring bags to keep things in, is our advice. (We thought the Mercan room was possibly the best, but that is ony our opinion). Ours, the Yunus, was cleaned scrupulously daily by the two lovely ladies who seemed to be able to turn their hands to anything from scrumptious cookery to uhle (I think), which is bread like naan, made on a hot metal sheet and fascinating to watch.
The position of the hotel is stunning: only five minutes' wobbly and in places uneven and challenging walk (probably not for those who find such walking demanding) down to the clearest, most fish-filled sea we have ever seen in the Med area; or the pool in the garden (decidedly cooler in September!) was clean and bright if you wanted to stay put on one of the many comfortable sofa areas dotted around the property. Yes, there is a rough track down to the hotel from the main road, but so what? It only takes ten minutes or so to go down it in a 4 x 4 and it's quite an adventure for us tarmac-addicted types. There are guided walks in the forest twice a week, which are lovely, too - proper walking sandals will do, we found, in good weather.
Food was the best we have ever had in Turkey (and we go a lot); choice for lunch and then set dinner, though if there is anything you don't like, there are always eagerly offered alternatives. There won't be much, believe us!
Biting insects abound day and night - well, this is the pine forest after all - but liberal applications of repellent do the trick and we had a pretty little resident gecko in our room who probably did a good bit to keep undesirable wild life down as well. Everything in the world bites me and I'm still here to tell the tale, so don't let that put you off.
All in all, by far the nicest place we have ever stayed in Turkey. Thank you, Can and Ahmed, for all you did for us to make our holiday perfect.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite has an outside bed in addition, covered by a mosquito net on the large balcony...

“Idyllic Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We spent a week at Beyaz Yunus in August and this was truly a fantastic holiday. The location, although remote, is stunning and the sea irresistible. The atmosphere at this hotel is extremely relaxed but the staff are very attentive and couldnt do enough for you. We did some trekking on the Lycian way under the expert guidance of one of the hotel managers and also took a really fun trip to nearby Butterfly Valley with a local fisherman. I have to say I was sad when this very special holiday came to an end and although I always like to try somewhere new I will definately return to Beyaz Yunus.

We recently returned from our first visit to this hotel and booked it based on the previous reviews. The position is beautiful, but to get there you have to go from the airport to the top of a dirt track in Faralya and then transfer to a four wheel drive to take you the rest of the way - the track down to the hotel is beautiful but very, very rough, and even in a 4 wheel drive is extremely uncomfortable. That said, the site itself is lovely - the rooms are set in gardens on the edge of the sea and surrounded by pine forest. The only trouble with all this is that there are loads of insects, a large number of which bite, so take a very efficient insect repellent. The bedroom, which was in a semi detached building, was very clean and had insect screens and a mosquito repellent plug in device, so we did not suffer in bed at night. The bathroom was spotless, but very run down and the shower head was broken. The towels were almost threadbare, although replaced every other day, as was the bedding. The swimming pool overlooked the garden and the sea and was kept clean. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. The only drawback was the food, which was very average, although the staff tried hard. There were only a very few guests, and I think they found it difficult to come up with a menu for everyone. The meals are taken on the terrace overlooking the sea, which is a lovely position (despite the ants). Overall, it was not value for money for us, although it depends what you are looking for - one couple from Switzerland had spent a week in Faralya, gone to Kas and come back a couple of days later as they could not tear themselves away from the Beyaz Yunus.

“Best holiday ever, sheer paradise, a priviliged expereience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

We travelled in June with EE for 2 weeks for a 2 centre holiday. We were advised (in our opinion wrongly) to stay at BY fiirst due to its remoteness, we felt that the hotel we stayed at after a, although lovely could not live up to BYF. We only wished we had stayed there for 2 weeks. The setting, the food, the ambience, service were absolutely perfect, completely away from the crowds and civilisation. We are normally the type of people who like to expereince various eating places in back streets of charming buzzing towns and villages, at BY F there is none of this, but we did not miss it. Last year we holidayed with EE in Kalkan, again a fabulous holiday with all that we would normally want, but in our opinion BYF holds it's own unrivalled position. The rooms are effectively stone huts adeqately and charmingly furnished. The shower rooms are a little antiquated and would benefit from a makeover, but this is rustic shabby chic so I suppose what is to be expected. The whole hotel is kept pristine, an extremely arduous task given the surrounding environment. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. Yavos, the manager is ery accomodating and anxiious to please nothing being too much trouble.

We went on the Dalyan Delta trip with EE, highly recommended, a fabulous day out, extremely good value with the most fabulous 3 course lunch at a riverside restaurant. We were the only couple on the trip and so had the whole boat to ourselves- absolute luxury and all for £29 each We lost count of how many turtles we saw. We can not wait to return there again next year

“Remote, idyllic, laid back - but feels like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

We wanted to get away from *everything*. At Beyaz Yunus we found a place where the night sky is properly dark, where no traffic can be heard, where the sea breeze catches the terraces and dining room enough to soften the (very intense) August sun. The manager was charming, couldn't do enough to make us feel relaxed and welcome (even having dinner, on the open air cliff-top terrace, ready for us on very late night arrival).

The food is excellent (and very plentiful) - wonderful breakfasts (omelettes, pancakes, fresh and preserved fruits, cereals, yoghurt, honey, bread, cheeses and olives...). Much of the food is from the hotel garden, or local. The dinners are set three-course feasts - one can ask to swap something in advance, if the menu doesn't suit.

The grounds are quite extensive, and lavishly tended (lots of 'wow' plants, bananas, avocados...); the loungers and deckchairs are arranged around and about in a way that makes it possible for guests to see no-one all day, if they want, but there are (I think) only 7 rooms, so in fact it never feels crowded.

There are lovely walks locally (we did one very long and quite arduous one, and one short one to a nearby cove to swim); there are paths down the cliff to rocky swimming places (crystal clear water). The pool is not huge, but just right for a cooling dip (and there's an open-air shower).

The rooms are quite spacious, with a reasonable sized bathroom (shower only, no bath). The beds are large and comfy, and beds and rooms are cleaned/tidied every day, with full changes of towels etc every couple of days. Each room (they're like little chalets) has a terrace or patio, although we hardly used ours, there were so many places to sit and relax. Our room had a fridge and safe (don't know about others, but assume so).

One day we watched the cook making flat bread on the open air griddle; on Fridays a masseuse visited (advance booking); every day there was a different 'cake' at tea-time. The outdoor bar area (with 'honesty bar') was idyllic in the sunset hours - and we met some really interesting people. It was our best fortnight's 'total holiday' ever.
