“Lovely little B and B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

Having had a nightmare trying to find somewhere to stay in Dartmouth on short notice that wasn't going to cost us the earth, Fairholme was a surprising little gem. Tucked away in a corner in the lovely village of Stoke Fleming, there's a little bit of Portugal. The owners have decorated their guest house in warm colours reminiscent of their trips to this country. The conservatory, where the breakfasts are delicious AND at a reasonable time of the morning, is warm and inviting with big glass doors that open onto a patio where the two cats lay in the sunshine. Our room was very cosy, with more warm colours and chunky wooden furniture and the little ensuite was just gorgeous. Kettle, mugs (instead of silly little cups), biscuits, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, decaff coffee, herbal tea - plus a hairdryer and sky tv. Also I noticed in the bottom drawer of the unit, 2 hot water bottles and an extra blanket. The ensuite had complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap etc too. The little touches that even larger hotels tend to forget sometimes, I highly recommend the Fairholme as a quiet, clean, and comfy escape that's definitely value for money.

“Fabulous B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2009

I've stayed at Fairholme twice now and its a fab B&B. Quiet, clean, ample carparking, good breakfasts and a lovely conservatory to relax in. Within walking distance is an excellent pub (Green Dragon) and the local hotel (Stoke Lodge). If you're fit and able, Blackpool Sands is walkable via the south west coast path. Loved it here, would definitely go back and definitely recommend if you're looking for a quiet rural retreat that won't cost a small fortune.

“Even better second time round!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2008

After being the only person to write a review on Fairholme before I felt I should write another one after staying again this weekend.

We stayed the previous night in the Red Lion in Dittisham which I have to say was pitiful compared to Fairholme.

We were welcomed by Shirley when we arrived on Saturday afternoon and were happy to be able to catch up on some sleep after a heavy night the night before! Have to recommend the great shower - heaven after the pathetic electric jobby in the place we stayed on Friday. Also made use of the handy hairdryer in the drawers in our room.

After a great night's sleep we sat down to an amazing breakfast, I can't rate it highly enough!!

Having visited Dartmouth & surrounding area for the second time now I would definitely say you should go for Fairholme rather than some of the places in town. It's great to be able to get out into the countryside a bit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Thanks Chris & Shirley - we'll be back again soon!!
