We had been with friends previously to the Bistro next door to the hotel which we really enjoyed so decided to give the hotel restaurant a try for a special occaision. Unfortunately we were the only four dining which meant not a lot of atmosphere. The starters were fine (especially the scallops) but the main courses a bit of a disappointment not quite warm enough. The sevice was friendly and efficient.

Stayed at the George overnight midweek on business. Arrived early and had no trouble with getting access to my room which was very useful. Then arrived in late back in the evening but again no problem for the staff. Room was comfortable and clean and the welcome and fare at breakfast was very good. Good value and would stay again.

Opened the bedroom door and thought that I was staying with my Nan in the 1970's. 'Tatty' is the word, dreaded the arrival of night and the thought of sleeping in the 1940's single bed was beyond the pale. Then the bathroom, awful, carpet on the floor that smelt of urine and dated bathroom suite with no warm water, and those were the good points!!!!

A one to miss!!!!

What a delight to find a hotel that offers a choice of times for breakfast - up to 9.30am in the hotel restaurant or later in Next Door at The George. The result, we were able to take our time in the morning, have a late lie-in and breakfast at 11am before checking out by the noon deadline. Added to which our room was clean and comfortable and the staff welcoming.
