“Sadly, a bit of disappointment,,, to be very honest....”

Stayed at Grand Mirage, Tanjung Benoa, Bali for 4 nights but I have to say I left the hotel with a bit of disappointment. The hotel facilties (room, restaurantes, lobby, etc) need some renovation but what got me the most was the attitude by staff members. I just felt they generally looked uninterested, didn't like what they did, couldn't care less, etc. I could see it because I have been in the hotel industry for 20 years myself. We booked a romantic ocean/pool view king bedded room, which turned out to be booked out on the day of our arrival, which would have been ok if the receptionist had actually told us that. Instead, the receptionist left that task to our porter to explain, when we got to our room. Our porter told us that because the room we had booked was over-sold, we would have to stay in a different room. I found it a little bit cowardly and disnhonest of the front office team. I was once a hotel receptionist and find it a bit unacceptable.
Anyway, the room and the overall facilties (restaurants) are a little bit tired, perhaps good renovation would help.
What I would like to highlight is the general indifference I felt from the staff members I came across. They were just not so interested in assisting me. I don't think I was in any way a difficult guest (Being a hotel staff member myself, I know what can be/cannot be done in hotels!!).
Every hotel gets old, you can't help it. But it is the people (staff members) who make or breal the guest's experience. On that note, I am very sadly forced to say that Grand Mirage (at least the time I stayed there), did not particularly "cut it" from my point of view.... Sadly, I don't think I would recommend this hotel to my friends....

“We'd like to live there forever”

My husband and I have just come back from a 23-day trip to many destinations in Asia. Bali was our second stop, after the skyscrapers image of Singapore and before the hussle and bussle of Bangkok, and we spent 4 incredible, unforgettable days in this hotel. As we had chosen the all-inclusive package, we were a little bit concerned that we would be obliged to stay in the hotel and the sevices wouldn't be so good: well, that's really the best part of the memories. Everything was amazing, from the hotel staff (including very special and thoughtful people on the beach and swimming pool bar/restaurants) to broad and delicious food and beverages choices. It's simply impossible not getting relaxed in the beautiful clean water and sand beach. Our room was huge and romantic (beach view), it was a second honeymoon. Furthermore, the package offered water sports (the visit to the turtle island is a must see) and night activities, such as the Balinese dinner with local dance, we were never bored (like in some other resorts we had been before). We were so impressed with the facilities in the hotel that we only hung out to get around Bali one day (in a 12-hour tour to visit temples, waterfalls, volcano and villages), all arranged by the hotel staff of course. At the end of our period there, we had the real feeling of getting excellent value for money and we didn't want to leave the hotel, we wish we could live there forever!!!

“FANTASTIC RESORT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Just came back from a 12 day trip - Feb 2/12. First time to Bali, and a little concerned after we had read some of the negative reviews on this hotel. So happy with our choice of hotel. As a travel agent, I would recommend this hotel to my friends/family's and clients. The value for your money is unbelievable! Yes, they serve the same food at the breakfast buffet, but there are enough choices that you could have a different breakfast for quite a number of days. We didn't get the all inclusive, so only had breakfast at the hotel, and sometimes ordered lunch. Food and drinks are expensive, but not overly so, doesn't matter where you stay, eating at a hotel is going to cost you. Rooms were clean, service excellent, we never had to wait for housekeeping. Front desk was always helpful. Cleaning staff were everywhere making sure that the hotel was in tip top shape. The information in the room is somewhat outdated, it states that you have to pay for ice, and use of games room, not true. No fees for these items. You are "allowed" 20 min of internet a day, but if you have your own wireless device, once you get signed on, you can go into the business center and use your own phone/pad/laptop.Yes everything in the hotel is in either US $$ or local currency - but isn't that everywhere? We just brought local currency and had no problems. Exchanging at the hotel the rate isn't as good, but when you realize the difference with the exchange, it's really not worth taking a chance and going somewhere outside the hotel, unless it's a bank. Lots of restaurants in the area, great food, good prices, wonderful people. I'd recommend Laguana, and of course our favorite Luna Bonita. Meals are very inexpensive. Location is good, very nice beach, we went in raining season, so the water/beach wasn't as prestine as I hoped it would be. One thing to keep in mind, lots of people, and traffic can get ugly, so be prepared and bring your patience. The Baliese people are wonderful, generous, calm people, so please keep this in mind, as there life style is much different than what North Americans/Europeans are used to. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to a shopping center, Bali Collections. If you want to take a cab, just make sure you ask first, very inexpensive. Overall great hotel and I will definately be recommending to my clients.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the parking lot street - but it was fine. A garden room or ocean view room woul...

Dear Battista R K,

Thank you for taking your time to post a review on our Tripadvisor page. I am happy to hear that our service has fulfilled your expectations during your holiday in our resort. Your compliments will be passed on to the particular staff members.

Regarding to the mosquito problem, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience, especially to your little boy. Bali is surrounded by tropical trees and other plantations, which is why so many mosquitoes around here. However, we always conduct a regular ‘fogging’ twice a week to keep mosquitoes out of the area. But I appreciate your comment about this, so we can take corrective measures to control these things better.

Overall, thank you for your valuable review and tips.We hope to welcome you again in Grand Mirage Resort in the future.
