“One of the best places to stay in Tobago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

Our family, which consists of 4 teenagers, my husband and me, of course, stayed at Bijou from August 27th to 30th, 2011. We had the 2 bedroom apartment. It was really a great experience. If you are looking for peace, serenity and tranquility, this is the right place. The apartment was clean and the staff , both Ingrid and Melissa were extremenly helpful.
My kids especially liked the pool area, they were in there every chance they got, as we had the pool to ourselves!!!!

We can recommed Bijou des Caraibes to anyone.................. you will not be disappointed. We will be revisiting in the future
Our only regret is that we were not able to meet Ms Gemmet, but I am sure she is a wonderful person as the Resort is a reflection of the owner!

“Absolutely Lovely Resort - Very Pleased with Place & Management”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

My husband and I stayed at this resort over the weekend (Friday 10th June 2011 – Monday 13th June 2011). The place was peaceful, serene, clean and beautifully kept as usual during our stay.

I have been staying at this resort for over ten (10) years and my family (sisters and parents) have developed a very good relationship with Mrs Gemmet. I would recommend her resort as a prime location in Tobago.

During my stay I did not witness any disturbing events nor heard any quarrels/arguments taking place on the compound.

I find the comment below to be disturbing and I do not agree with what is being said especially since I was on the premises during the period in question.

I do not hesitate to recommend this resort for guests wishing to stay in Tobago.

“a perfect holiday hideaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

I chanced upon Bijou des Caraibes after a few internet searches looking for places to stay in Tobago for a week's holiday with my husband, 2-year old and friend from the UK, and I'm very glad I did. Living in Trinidad. we've been to Tobago many times, but this was one of the nicest places we've stayed in - secluded and quiet, with a lovely garden full of flowers and birds, a good sized pool, adequate security and an excellent location, just a couple of minutes' drive from Mount Irving, Buccoo, Pleasant Prospect etc - our favourite part of western Tobago. The two-bedroom apartment we stayed in was perfect for our group - clean, bright, airy and very reasonably priced, plus it overlooked the pool and had a couple of tables outside which were great for eating breakfast or dinner outdoors. Owner Judy went out of her way to accommodate us, adding a cot to the larger bedroom for our son, plus baby bath which he loved, and some cool little beach toys, too (all without being asked, which was really nice). She was always welcoming and friendly, on hand for advice on restaurants and places to go, and made us feel as though we were "coming home" to a place we'd visited many times before. Little things like a line to hang up swimming things, use of a washing machine and efficient, friendly cleaning staff also enhanced our stay. I'm only sad she was fully booked the next time we tried to come across for the weekend.

“We were very dissapointed!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

We were very dissapointed by the treatment that we had recieved during our stay at the Bijou Des Caraibes. The place was very dusty, there were insects all over, the bathroom was flooding, the aircondition units were dirty and we were greeted by a dead frog laying betwween the bedrooms in the hallway. All this we had put behind us as the host blamed it on the cleaner who she claimed had not been doing her job. What had really upsetted our stay is the story that follows.
The host seemed to be very nice at first but our opionions had changed when a mishap had occured. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment located near the poolside which had a large bedroom and an extremely small bedroom.Being adults the small bedroom did not accompany a comfortable stay.We had asked the host if we could join the beds in that room since they were so small, she agreed.Upon tryin to join the beds, they could not be joined due to the fact that the bed heads were clashing which left a huge gap between the two.We decided to remove the frame and just use the matresses, trying to sleep on the two small beds were very uncomfortable and we were extremly tired form a long day .Having no space in the room for movement,we had to carry out the frames to the bigger bedroom.Upon carrying out the frames the boards slipped out of place. This was normal as these were old fashion beds made out of wood. The beds were made up of 10 pieces of wood (4 large ones and 6 small ones),all the pieces were hooked into place, there was no tools (inluding nails or screws) or excessive force neccessary for the constrution of the bed.We saw no problem with this and made up our minds to make the best of the situation and reconstruct the beds after our stay. The next morning I was awaken by yelling by the host. She had barged in announced and was raising her voice at my two friends who were staying in the next room.I rushed outside to see what was going on.The host, the maid and a man she had brought to fix the beds were all in the kitchen staring at us still dressed in our night clothes.I was so distraught that i did not know what to do.The host had not told us what the problem was, instead she had called the organiser who had booked the stay and complained. We were confused. We are the tenants, when there is a problem she was suppose to come to us and let us know,we had no idea of what was going on.She refused for us to fix it back ourselves so we made way for the builder.Calmly realising that what we had upsetted her,we agreed to pay for the man she brought to fix back the beds, but this did not stop the yelling. She had left the apartment and the builder came into the bedrooms to fix the beds.It took literally 2 minutes to reassemble the beds and the builder did nothing but hand the pieces of wood to us,as he realised there was no work to be done.He left the apartment unpaid realising that he had did nothing and was sent back by host stating that she demanded that he was paid.Without argument we paid him,we just wanted to leave as soon as we could. That was the last we saw of the host, when we left she was not there and we were more than upset by the way we were treated. The reputation of the appartments should surely be tarnished due to the absurd behaviour of the host.

“PARADISE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2011

I have been to Tobago several times but I must admit this trip was the best ever and it's not only because of the company I traveled with. We arrived early afternoon in the blazing sun, my boyfriend and I were totally in awe.....the garden was the first thing to catch our attention, it's totally breathtaking, right away I knew we made the right choice. Judy was right there to greet us, she is a total gem, it was like greeting long lost friends. She took my luggage and quickly led us to our one bedroom accommodation, very spacious with everything you could possibly desire. The thing that lingers in my memory is the heart made of petals on the bed....it brought tears to my eyes, I think it was so amazing that she knew this was a romantic get away without me ever indicating when I made reservations.

We only booked three nights here but it was so serene and perfect we stayed (6) six nights instead. I can't swim and I've always avoided swimming pools, but there was no way I was going to avoid lounging in this little paradise, we even had a late night swim after "Sunday School".

The room was cleaned everyday, we never had to request clean sheets or towels. The only things that were removed from the room were the dirty linen and the trash. None of our stuff went missing and this is totally commendable.

Bijou des caraibes is my paradaise in Tobago and there is no way I'm gonna stay anywhere else and Judy has just become an addition to our family.
