Me and my partner stayed here Saturday Night (11th Feb), it was a group on voucher purchased as a gift.

Upon arrival we were welcomed by a very friendly Gentleman who asked us what time we wanted to sit down for our evening meal, did we want a wake up call & newspapers..very effiecient!

Checked in with ease and was shown to our room, lovely building away from the main called honeysuckle i believe. Nice, clean very spacious, bed was large & comphy, flat screen TV hot drink facilities.. would of liked an iron but im sure if i had of asked they would of given me one (partners GHD's did my shirt nicely :) ).

Evening meal was superb..as was the service..all very friendly took time to have a conversation & were intrested! Nice restaurant area with low level music fantastic!
Breakfast served Buffet style which was all nice & hot, plenty of choice, toast delivered to table without even asking..

Having worked in a hotel myself for over 4 years I can honestly say this place is of excellent quality & standards are clearly high...would i stay again?? try & stop me !!

Keep up the fantastic work & we look forward to seeng you again very soon !!!

“A retreat from the snow!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I booked this hotel on a Groupon, so was not sure what it was going to be like (had other experiences of hotels with Groupon that were'nt brilliant!), but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. We stayed in the Mulberry suite, which is a separate building to the hotel (the only downside to that was the weather - several inches of snow to walk through to get to dinner and breakfast!). The room itself was large, had very comfortable double bed, two tvs - one opposite the bed and one in the 'lounge' area, where there was a comfortable settee to relax on. French doors led out on to the garden with a patio table and chairs - I can imagine on a summer's evening would be lovely to sit outside. It was really cold when we arrived, so the welcoming heat in the room was lovely, you can adjust the radiators to your liking as well and the heating was on all night. The only downsides to the room were the fact that it was separate to the hotel itself (although they do thoughtfully supply you with a large umbrella!). The bathroom was large but also quite chilly despite having a heated towel rail in there. It did have a huge jazucci bath and corner shower cubicle (very powerful shower), but was definitely in need of decorating/cleaning. A big no no is the carpet on the floor of the bathroom, and the usual rugs around the toilet and next to the bath. Much more hygienic to have laminate in hotel bathrooms! There is a large window in the bathroom which looks straight out on to a carpark at the front of the hotel - and clear glass!!! Yes, there were blinds at the window, but of course these had to remain shut at all times. I think frosted glass is a definite requirement here. Also for the ladies - the dressing table in the middle of the room is lovely, but there is no decent lighting next to it, and with the blind firmly shut in the bathroom this was a small problem for me.

The reception manager greeted us with a very friendly manner, and was able to supply me with another dressing gown very quickly when asked, as there was only one in the room. The restaurant was very nice, the food good and the breakfast plentiful. I especially liked the lovely fresh fruit salad that was there.

I left an item in the room by mistake, and when I rang the hotel they had no problem in promising to send this back to me.

All in all, this was a lovely hotel to stay over in, we wanted a base to go shopping in Nottingham the next day, and had a lovely relaxing evening beforehand. Yes, for a Groupon this was definitely worth it!

Room Tip: Ask when booking if your room is in the main part of the hotel or annexe

We stayed in the mulberry suite on our anniversary in December, it was just like a small cottage with the front door opening on to the lounge which had a sofa, coffee table, tv and French doors opening out on to the garden. the bed was soooh comfortable and the biggest bathroom I have ever seen with a massive air bath/jacuzzi and shower(this was the only thing that let the room down, needs totally replacing as I would not use it and I am sure nobody else would) The staff were all excellent and we probably would return.

“Nice but overpriced and my room wasn't clean :(”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I was staying over on business and this hotel was recommended. It was 100 per night which I thought was overpriced as there are no leisure facilities but it was close to where I needed to be so gave it a go. On arrival the staff were very friendly and I was lead to a room. It was cosy and quaint but needed updating and there were cobwebs and dust everywhere. I ate in the restaurant and the meal was very nice. The breakfast was also very good. it's a good village location and the food was ok, but I can't understand how the price is so high.
